I’m here all the time. The role as the mod is to keep things moving. Not to micromanage the board. Our goal from the outset has been to allow free exchange of ideas and to limit bannings and vacations as much as possible.

The hardest thing to do as a mod is to read everything, to vehemently disagree, and to keep my mouth shut. The reason that I do this, is to not influence postings. I want people to be able to post without fear of a mod ban hammer. I have to show a lot of restraint.

Top 10 classes ARE the norm here. #7 - #10 is an average, maybe even below average class. Just because Yellowteeth couldn't recruit hasn't changed the fact that WE ARE FLORIDA.

While this is true, getting a top 10 class in a coaches first year under these circumstances would be pretty incredible. That transition year class is tough, no matter the coach.

I also would like to say to all the Negative Nancy’s that said Mullen would bring his B level recruiting to UF can now shut the **** up. Beating both Bama and OSU for a qb they both desperately wanted is big boy recruiting

Wasn’t a fan of the Mullen hire. Not many were. Primarily because we thought we’d get Kelly with all the fake news that came out. Mullen was a let down. I came around to the belief now that Mullen will be our Richt, which is a huge improvement. I do think he has more potential than the Miami choker, but until he wins a Championship, i’ll be skeptical. I will say that I have been more pleased than not by Mullen’s performance so far.

Concerning Jones and beating Bama head to head, let’s put this into perspective. If Jones signs with us we really need to understand that we were playing with a loaded deck. His family is loaded with UF fans, we now have an offense fit for him and no one else on the roster is close, and Mullen’s rep is probably bigger than it ever has been.

UF is also known for QB’s. Tebow, Wuerffel, SOS, Matthews, Bell, and Grossman. What has constantly said under Muschamp and McElwain is that they were a QB away. What does Bama bring? Namath, but then who? McElroy? Maybe McCarron. The UF culture is centered around the QB. Bama is built around tons of blue chippers, who got beat by a great QB in last year’s championship game.

This isn’t about Mullen beating Saban, so much as not losing to Saban. UF matches up perfectly for Jones. He could be Mullen’s Tebow or Wuerffel, but that’s way too much pressure. He’s not Franks or Del Rio or Driskel. He’s a step in the right direction, and right now, that’s exactly what we need.

That's why I said at the very least, a top 10 class every year would be acceptable but we expect top 5 more often than not.

Huge get when we land Jones. This is still a transition class and shouldn't be weighted too much on Mullen. Next year will be the big one.

Meyer and OSU have been backing off Jones for a while fyi per the article Daddy posted. Mullen took advantage. Great for UF Great for Mullen and Great for us.

I didn't get that OSU was backing off Jones for awhile from that article at all. Jones was Meyer's chosen one in this class and he basically forced their hand to go after another guy so they weren't left empty handed.

I don't remember if this was in that article or another but I thought it was funny that Meyer was upset that Jones didn't shut down his recruitment after committing to OSU. Just goes to show what he expects when he goes hard after a recruit and thinks he got them.

It will be a huge deal to steal Jones, makes you think that top 10 classes at the very least will be the norm with our share of top 5 classes when Mullen has time to properly recruit and develop those relationships. He may not be Meyer (who is outside of Saban?) but he'll be very good.
