Here’s a novel idea. Let’s start a thread. Sticky it and everyone can piss and moan or cheer to their hearts content about the hire. And let’s leave this one to recruiting.

I tried to compliment the guy. I even defended this year's class by saying it was a transition class. Then somebody threw a hissy because I complimented the coach.

The shame is that Rex and Traz put some good stuff out in-between the incessant attacks on football/AD staff and trying to skewer the other 99% of us here who they define as "pumpers". I've never seen people spend so much energy on gaining an upper hand.

I think part of it was that Meyer wasn't even recruiting him until Jones actually approached OSU. He told them he'd always been an OSU fan and if they weren't set on a QB yet to please give him a look. So OSU did and gave him an offer. I think Meyer feels like WTF, this kid came to us and now he's dumping us? He's pissed he put his eggs in the Jones basket and thought they were safe because Jones came to him not the other way around. Such are the perils of dealing with 17 y/o kids. I for one am loving seeing Meyer get screwed.

Where are you getting this information? This is the SEC bylaws on this

Southeastern Conference Constitution And Bylaws pertaining to transfers within the SEC. Section 14.5.5.1 addresses such circumstances:

A transfer student from a member institution shall not be eligible for intercollegiate competition at another member institution until the student has fulfilled a residence requirement of one full academic year (two full semesters) at the certifying institution. Further, a transfer student-athlete admitted after the 12th class day may not utilize that semester for the purpose of establishing residency. Student-athletes meeting the terms of NCAA Bylaws 14.5.5.2.1, 14.5.5.2.2, 14.5.5.2.3, 14.5.5.2.4, 14.5.5.2.5, 14.5.5.2.6, 14.5.5.2.7, 14.5.5.2.8, 14.5.5.2.9 may seek a waiver for the provisions of this bylaw.
