Recruiting 2019 NSD: 4* DE Khris Bogle and 4* CB Elam signs

Recruiting is disappointing at the present time, I think I’ve just accepted the fact that Mullen is not going to be a dynamite recruiter, which many predicted. Many on here are right whenever they say our brand is just tarnished right now, not to say that other coaches couldn’t be having more recruiting success for us at this current time. I just think Mullen will get his recruiting bump when we show on field improvement under him.

I agree w/ that...but I also wonder how much of "on field improvement" we'll see. Sure, it will be light years ahead of Butters offenses. But will it be exciting enough to attract top recruits? What if we pass for 137 yards per game? Will top WR's and QB's want to come here? Will top OL's want to play in that? Who knows...but at this point the 'brand' is certainly tarnished...

Jones should get that 4th star. Probably one more of the other kids. But, it's still early, right?

No doubts that Jones gets the bump. After his latest camp where he killed it, plus he's an inch taller and over 200lbs now. He'll be 225+ by the time he steps on a college football field. Of the others, I'm not sure which one gets a 4th star, if any.

As to the previous post, Mullen really needs to be inside the top 10 w/ every class he signs from here on out or we're constantly playing catch up. If one of the QBs (Jones and Jones) becomes a 'dynamic' QB (game changer type) we can win/compete w/ anyone w/ top 10 classes. If we continue to struggle at QB we'll be a 4 loss team every year.

I see the QB situation being corrected over the next year to two. Jones and Jones are legitimate Dual threat qbs. The running aspect alone will dramatically improve the offense. You can see that in Fitzgerald or the kid who replaced him last year. Fitzgerald is excellent on the ground below average through the air. I would gladly take Msst offense over any of MAcs or Chumps.

None of the other guys? I thought there was one guy. Hmmm. If not, that's a real poor start by Mullen for sure. Gotta hope he starts cleaning up.

I know we're not supposed to count ESPN's rankings...but they just bumped Whittemore, Jones, Marks, and White to 4-stars.....but didn't bump Abrams.

Totally agree, but wanted to point it out as odd. I've heard Abrams would get the 4th star talk as well, but Whittemore, Marks, and White get a bump from ESPN and he doesn't? All 3 of those kids are ranked in the 600's (or higher) by Rivals and/or 247.

I understand White a little bit. If he can put it together for his senior year, he has the size and potential to become a really good player for us. He may very well be a four-star before it’s all said and done. Abrams looks good though. He should already be a four-star IMO.

I don’t get the others. Maybe it’s either film I haven’t seen Or something they’ve shown since?

True but it's easier to recruit top players when they know you're already getting top players. It's called pre selection.

Amen this is what I've been saying. Elite talent wants to play with elite talent

I think this is fair. But I think some other stuff has to be taken into consideration as well. Mainly the safety in the health of the Young player. In addition, QBs to have fragile psyches. I’d rather bring him along in a Tebow like fashion and have him take the reins next year.

I looked through the CB's of the top Georgia prospects and UGA has CB's for about 15 DL's (and OL's for that matter). They have way too many CBs for the number of spots they have available (I know....nice position to be in!). So, they may or may not get him....but he's been CB'd to them (over us) for quite a while. He's been to UF at least 3 times in this calendar year, so I'm holding out hope we get him. If not, we literally don't have many 'good' DL's looking at us. We'll be going Plan B big-time if he falls through.

Yeah that’s why I agree with rivals assessments. In camps they compete against equal skill players. I don’t know how rivals weights it – but I would assume it’s probably around 70% camps and 30% tape.

I believe this is what will happen. Nobody is excited to play with Franks or trask. And if Jones can make things happen im sure hell end up starting a few games this year
