Yeah, we cant land anyone in Florida? We dont need Seider or any other good recruiters. We got this old dude named English who used to be a thing in Cali thirty years ago. Lets waste our time in Cali.

:lmao2: What a great plan that was. We will go where Bammer and Ugly aint.

Ooops, they have USC and Oregone out there? Who knew.

The staff rolled snake eyes on that gamble, looks like we’ll be chasing plan B’s and probably plan C recruits the rest of this cycle.

I have to think there's a reason why we haven't been able to land a top tier coach. We're no longer seen as a plug-and-play opportunity. That doesn't mean we're not a value play for the right guy. We're still a big-time university with lots of history.

Either way it becomes a matter of the chicken (coaching) or the egg (recruiting). Something has to get the ball rolling.

It's obvious from our facilities that we aren't even trying anymore. Why would a top tier coach want to come here?

Your world revolves around black and white. I see us in the eight- to nine-win space, which will be enough to direct some of the focus back. Mullen's game planning and in-game adjustments could mean the difference between eight and nine wins.
Being South Carolina or Cowbell doesn't make you a star in anyway.

But I agree, we will be a 7-8 win team the next three years.

We're playing catch up. The bigger question surrounds the priority given that.

I hate to agree but this does seem to be by design. UF wants to be Florida's Duke. Great basketball. Screw football. It's too masculine and high impact. We need more sports diversity and foreign engineering students!!!

You know it's bad when even a toad like McInsane calls you out.

Dr. Fuchs getting on a plane for New Hampshire conflicts with that.

Zero commits huh? And there were a boatload of 3*s there too. Could he actually be worse at recruiting than macelstain?

This is an absolute abortion.

He is one of the few coaches to ever get worse each year of his first few years.

It is in the read and reaction link from earlier. Bill Sikes: The 5-star nerd breaks down the current state of Gators recruiting - Read and Reaction

We were told to overlook his actual resume and SEC record bc he would be a much better recruiter here. It appears we are set to fall into the bottom tier of SEC talent now also over the next 2.5 years until he and Stricklin are fired.

I think that was the podcast that said early on field success didn’t really give a coach much of a bump in recruiting over the level he normally had been recruiting at. I was believing like many others on here in the “pipe dream” that if Mullen would have a decent opening season with offensive improvement, he could use that on field success to bolster this class near a top 10 finish. They cited several examples of normally average at best recruiting coaches with early success at new schools and didn’t receive a recruiting bump after it. Mac was one of these examples, so basically if your an average recruiter at Miss St, you’ll be an average recruiter at Florida. Now of course he can overcome this if he’s willing to purge some of this staff for better recruiters. Since Mullen is supposed to have a reputation for getting the most out of his talent, I don’t know why he didn’t try to load up this staff with recruiters, instead of getting rid of our best one in Seider. He should’ve added a few more with him, and we’d be likely looking a lot better currently.

Mullen's going to need to coach himself out of this recruiting rut. In other words, gain some forward mojo with the talent he has and hope future recruits get excited about what's going on.

None of these kids remembers when we amounted to something. It's as if we're irrelevant and starting from the ground floor.
Glad to see there’s some folks around here with a level head. Getting zero commits is a decidedly poor result but it doesn’t surprise me given how poorly the rest of the cycle has been. I’m in “wait and see what happens as the season progresses” mode. The best case scenario right now is that recruits aren’t pulling the trigger because they want to see what a Dan Mullen coached Gator team looks like.

It's the same everywhere. It would have been preferable to gain more recruiting traction early on, but maybe that's not in the cards. So you go to Plan B.

At the end of they day, you gotta make something happen. Figure a way.

Based on what?

This is like that QB Whisperer bullshyt that started on the Gator boards about Butters. No one has ever said that and nothing in his record suggests that. Instead he is a below average recruiter who gets average results with his team (coin toss against similarly talented teams).

What does he do that gets the "most out of his talent"?

Good luck with that as its not how recruiting works generally and our offense is still going to look rough in 2018.

I haven’t seen a single person say they’re happy about that. Maybe you are? You’ve wanted to keep every terrible coach we’ve ever had.

Nobody likes seeing the Gators down more than you do.

So, you haven’t seen donkey’s full-auto, rapid-fire lols?

I’m fairly well versed in how recruiting goes. It’s easy to see that a) this isn’t going well and b) the odds that his “bump” class is anything better than “disappointing” are very low right now. Still, I love CFB and can’t wait for the season. Not going to wallow in petty because guys with a poor track record in recruiting had poor results at a recruiting event.
