Hmmm...I remember people saying I had lost my damn mind when I suggested that after the Kentucky game. When I said it may be like the '05 South Carolina game changing the trajectory...
Well, I for one thought that this team was a lost cause and I'm glad you were right. They've show real toughness and it shows what a little decent coaching can do with fine athletes that believe in it.

What I saw at Kentucky was a team still figuring out what they were doing and the Safety position giving up a few big plays as the difference. Just like the Kentucky game, our D is still giving up tons of yards between the 30's, but right now we have slowed down on the long TD's for the most part and have improved on tackling. Vosean being the most noticeable difference. If you go back and look at the game, we had players in position to make a ton of plays on defense, but weren't wrapping up. That's changed and when our D is stepping up, it gives our O the opportunity to figure things out.

Yeah, I noticed that too. They were in a position to tackle most of the time and missed them all. As far as still having those lapses of D, I think we are still short at least 1 big DL and 1 big LB. Maybe well fill the needs this recruiting cycle.

Guys in the box write us off any time the other team gains a first down.
That's right. Florida has a tendency to give up "easy" drives that makes you wonder if they shown up, or like that 2 40 yard run drive, where they'd gone. But then are stifling most of the other times.

No but we sure have responded well. I’m not convinced we wouldn’t have done exactly the same thing even after a sloppy win - these guys were still learning the system and standards for practice, etc. And I never bought the 08 thing either. They certainly responded well but that was an insanely gifted team. Should’ve been our undefeated season.

Was saying the same thing after Kentucky. Didn’t get to watch it live so I knew we lost. Watching the game knowing that, it was hard to believe we lost. We were so well positioned to stop drives so many times and just whiffed on tackles.

I agree, no excuse for losing to Ole Miss.

LSU's opening drive was scripted and extremely well conceived with Burrow running it to perfection. They were all over the field with plays. It left us looking unprepared and flat footed.

Once again, we made all the right adjustments.

In person, Ventrell Miller is a big SOB, so is Zach Carter (DE) who is buried by depth at the moment. Can't wait for him to have more time actually practicing and he may get time on the field. Being suspended last year didn't help him. I think Conliffe, Slaton, and Campbell are going to be huge going forward. I do think we need to get more bodies though.

The inconsistancies my be that they are just young, still learning. No excuse to give up 2 40 yard runs out of the blue.

Maybe the excuse is that LSU is a great football team and made a couple plays?

I want to say yes, but I think Vandy will be a better indicator. The last three games have demanded the team's attention like they would any year. If they don't screw around and put Vandy away early, then I can say without hesitation that we benefited from it

I don't know that we're going to put anyone away early. The offense is still a work in progress.

I don't know about great but they are certainly very good. I thought a little overrated since Auburn's offense is very poor and they got beat by MSU last night and Miami barely beat a stuggling FSU. But they certainly made a couple of plays, that can't be denied.

Our first quarter scoring leaves a lot to be desired. Same with 3rd downs (offense and defense). Definitely areas requiring improvement.

Don't know that we needed to lose but that game showed Mullinz what he had in this team and what he was going to have to work around in the future.
