20 wins this year and I'll give White two more years after this one. 20 will be a tourney team, and I'm guessing with what I witnessed last night, a quick exit in March. I do expect significant improvement over the next two years with the current class coming in. Sweet 16 at a minimum.
I'm having a hard time seeing 20 wins, and I tend to be an optimist.
There are 17 regular season games remaining.
We have yet to beat a ranked team, so I'm going to assume that we lose to all teams ranked 20 or higher, regardless of where we play them. That's 0-6 against #18 UK(twice), #3 Tenn (twice), #11 Auburn, and #14 Miss St
We have 6 home games remaining against unranked teams (Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Vandy, Mizzou, UGA, LSU). For the sake of argument, I'm going to optimistically assume that we go 5-1 in these games.
We have 5 road games against teams not in the top 20 (UGA, #25 TCU, Bama, LSU, Vandy). I'm going be very optimistic and say we go 3-2 in road games.
Put all of this together and we end up with 8 more wins, and an end of regular season record of 17-14. To get to 20 wins, we'd have to win 3 games in the SEC tournament. If we don't get an opening round bye, we would have to make it to the semifinals (top 4 teams) in the SEC tourney. If we get an opening round bye, we would have to make it to the SEC championship game.
Sure, it's possible, but even with a lot of optimism, based on what we've seen so far this year, it just doesn't seem likely.
