Georgia is winning like we used to - with pitching and defense. They lead the nation in fewest hits allowed per nine innings at 6.13 and are 8th in ERA at 3.19. Their fielding percentage is .980 and I think that's #12. But their team batting average is only.263. They broke a 4-game losing streak Tuesday by beating the Citadel 9-0. One of the keys is whether or not their ace pitcher Emerson Hancock (7-2, 1.04 ERA) is available and he is not listed as starting either tonight or Saturday. Their 3B/closer Aaaron Schunk (1-1, 2.14 ERA and 11 saves; .339 batting average, 7 HR and 39 RBI's) hasn't played since last Friday night due to an Achilles problem and if he's not available, that could be another advantage for Florida. They have junior Tony Locey pitching tonight (7-1, 2.60 ERA) and junior Tim Elliott going tomorrow (5-3, 2.63 ERA). We have a definite offensive advantage, but our defense needs to be stout the the pitching needs to come through if we're going to have a chance to win the series. Getting swept would be disastrous for our postseason chances as we really need to win 5 out of our last 9 conference games to get to 14 wins.
