Except Wiltfong and Mansell are the big dogs at 247 and their evaluation carries a lot more weight than Luke's. That's why Luke has been crying underrated underrated about Emanuel Rogers out of Jensen Beach. He is rated 3* and ranked 1031. He did not attend any camps. They (the bigs dogs) attend most the camps or at least the major ones. That's why you have seen the evaluation of Georgia prospects jump over the last 10 years vis a vis Florida and Texas prospects. Now granted Georgia HS have actually plucked the best coaching talent from Florida and surrounding states and have paid them handsomely but still.

I agree leo, it's not a perfect science - especially for HS kids. I'm sure there's favoritism (which happens/happened at Rivals w/ FSU's players over the years). The "Bama bump" is a real thing....and it appears it's a real thing for UGA too. But I do think they do a solid job ranking the top 500 or so....and there are some that slip through the cracks, but for the most part these kids have been evaluated pretty well - especially at the skill positions.

Think of how we would be reeling with the "recruiting" now going on at UCLA or Nebraska. And yes, I originally hated the DM hire too.

I never wanted Kelly, but Frost was my #1. I wasn’t thrilled with Mullen, but ever since he stepped off the plane doing the chomp I’ve been impressed with almost everything he has said and done. It’s not just the quips, quotes and moves. He’s doing the right things organizationally and is extremely thorough in changing the culture and setting the tone. I’m all in.

And who knows? A healthy Copeland could be that game breaker.

I disagree w/ that. Look at Urban's Ohio State teams....they had GREAT RB's. If we build this team the right way - like you said - by building the LOS, the offense will take off. Mullen wants to run the ball, weather it's the QB or a RB. He showed last year he's willing to hand the ball off. If Scarlett (or Perine) had gotten the lion's share of the carries we could have had a 1,000+ yard RB (instead they split the carries). Now I'm not sure we'll ever land "elite" WR's, but we can land top 300 type 4-star WR's who could end up being a star. And if we ever get a QB that is accurate we could see more down field throws. But right now, building the LOS is key....and we're not doing a great job of it (only 4 blue-chip OLs out of 11 signed).
First, Creyer didn't "have an offense". He was never even a coordinator, at any level, other than Special Teams.

However, both Mullinz and Creyer learned from their early errors at UF and went back to a more power back running game and away from the midget scatbacks running sideways. It worked well for both.

We are however always going to be limited by the fact that Mullinz' QB is always at least the #2 rusher and those are carries taken away from the RB, no doubt about it.

Even with Spurrier we had about equal # pass-plays to run-plays. It's just that the passes made longer gains than the runs. Passes ate up more yardage and were more responsible for our TDs. It has to be up to our OL & RBs to break long runs to hold down the necessity for more risky passing. Hope to see us ripping opponents both ways.

As much as I pump, I still see it as very difficult for DM to win more than 10 games upcoming. Where will such greater conquering player-units come from if our competitors are getting those stars too. Especially, if top opponents are getting them at a better pace? Oh Lord, I'm a bumshine pumper.

I don't think anyone thinks it's going to be easy, just not impossible. Lift up your heart, all may very well yet come right. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead, clank the anchors, mizzen the mast, poop the deck! All that shytt.

Reading on some other boards about the sh*t-show that is UF recruiting and there are some serious internal problems.

Mullen has assembled a rag-tag, disorganized motley crew of misfits in the recruiting office - he's currently trying to fix it....but the initial hires have been a disaster, including Begley who came from MSU (she's stabilized, but she her issue w/ banging the MSU baseball coach caused her to have to "hide out" for a few months while it settled down - a few months she wasn't really doing her job).

Otis Yelverton was recently arrested for stalking - and likely gets fired.

Cordell Landers did something, not sure what, and was let go.

Chuck Cantor - who was a buddy of Grantham - was hired to run the show....fired.

And apparently some of the UAA have commented to beat writers comments along the lines of "...we're not sure exactly what they do all day..."

Add to this that our recruiting staff is signifantly understaffed compared to our rivals who are out-recruiting us.

Im pretty sure most of us wonder what the support staff does.

I will tell you what the recruiting staff DOES NOT do, and that is keep in contact w the recruits. Uniformly, UF commits or not, we hear "I dont hear from UF much, but Clemson, Ugly and Bammer are really on me."

Those UAA commenters are probably just Foley hang overs who question the need for a recruiting staff in general. Need to flush them, sooner than later. While upgrading and replacing the recruiting staff and half the coaches.

Hear! Fvkking hear!!!!

Flushing the UAA and AD leftovers is the first line of business. I saw one recent breakdown which had those UAA and ADO scumbags eating up 40% of the athletic budget. There is about 35-50 million in fat to be trimmed there.

Im tired of the coaching carousel and even if the next SOS or Creyer were out there, they arent coming to UF to fight with one hand cuffed.

We need to provide Mullinz we every damn tool he needs and right damn now.

If you wait til he is on the hotseat, which could be as soon as October 2020 and which could be warming next fall, he wont be able to land competent staffers or asst coaches.

Fix this right damn now!

Not to mention that Mullen wants to increase the size of the support staff but has no offices to put them in.

I haven't heard that one, but you'd think they could find somewhere to put a few desks/cubicles. It's inexcusable.

I sure hope this latest debalce causes there to be a 'come to Jesus' down there - not only w/ the players, but w/ the coaching staff and the recruiting department. Recruiting one QB - who had obvious character issues - is a huge, huge miss. In the long run, it hurts more than losing Steele (a top rated CB).

Anyhow, I'm not going to dwell on the Jones/Steele issue much. Mullen needs to move forward and try to get some momentum back. Beating Miami's ass will be a nice start.

Too many assistant ADs with big corner offices. They have actually ran out of office space.
