Crazy - he may have been the worst but I am sure there were quite a few crooked characters years ago.

Didn't someone out in CA try to claim world record back in the 90's by shoving a huge weight down the fishes gullet?

It is a VERY long read, but the article presents a man who is an absolute psychopath.

I'm not a big lawsuit guy, but the tournaments' governing bodies should file suit against him.

He should never be allowed to fish again. Anywhere.

When the lying is taking money out of other honest people's pockets, its on a different level.

Criminal.
I think your beef is with the people believing the fish stories.

What is the famous saying? Fool me once shame on me. Fool me twice ... errrr....you are not going to fool me again!

No.

My "beef" is on behalf of hundreds of anglers who competed within the rules in bass tournaments and lost thousands of dollars in cash to a man who consistently and undeniably cheated. A man who will lie will steal and Long did exactly that.

I could make a political comparison, but I'll spare the sports forum.

Again, this isn't a single lie about a isolated fish catch.

One night driving down Highway 27 in Leesburg the light on the second "B" burned out and the truth was revealed.

The fact that this asshat was able to bring bass into tournaments hidden in his live wells and pretend that he caught them is a major indictment on the idiots running the tourneys. My God, every boat should be fully inspected before it launches, and they weren't doing that. It's just common sense.

You didn't read the article.

He SNAGGED them with a treble hook.

Might as well be fishing with dynamite.

Or at the right lake. When you bring a bass who’s bigger than any of the ones there, your chance of setting a record goes way up. I suspect the prize money he won was nothing compared to the sponsorship money.

He brought bass from different TYPES of lakes. The color of the bass differs depending on water conditions and temp.
