Things could be worse, we could be Tennessee:

News out of Tennessee's camp:

- DT Emmitt Goodman out for the year w/ ACL injury, started 1 game last year expected to be a starter this year (he's a senior juco transfer).

- Starting OL Nathan Neihaus has left the team, started 6 games last year at OG.

If Zook was out there sniffing around for a staff position I'm just so glad we didn't end up getting stuck with him.

can you imagine him trying to cut film and type up summaries?

He's not a head coach, but that doesn't make him a bad coach. There's a lot of guys that jumped from assistant to HC and shouldn't have.

Man, I tell you. Moon sure is beefed up and looks like the man just hulking over Chatfield.

Moon is at least up to slot receiver size.

Sorry, probably should have prefaced that with "I agree." I knew you were serious, although it is not a take that is going to get its due here. In a league where head coaches can and do throw coordinators under the bus to save their jobs he was working pretty regular. That's not happening if he's ineffective in his role.

Zook was ineffective at every position he touched. He was garbage DC, and his DBs were always the weakest part of the team.

His two strengths were:
1. Being dumb, and
2. From Ohio

Which apparently make you irresistibly attractive to Fooley. They were two peas in a pod.

To this day Fooley thinks Zook won 3 championships for us.

I'm also really not sure how good of a recruiter is because he pretty much relied on promising dudes they were going to start no matter what.

As an analyst I don't know what worth he would be. He knows nothing about defense other than playing soft zone.

As a recruiting staffer, he hasn't been on the road for over 20 years and no doubt his old contacts are retired.

He just wouldn't be the answer to anything that ails us.

There's a guy on almost every staff that's a Florida guy, often their best recruiter, like Seider was. Those are the guys we should be hunting and any of their support staff equivalents.
