At the end of the day, it's just football. A place like Gatorchatter is about a lot more than football. It's a community, part of our daily lives. Often the characters here are considerably more interesting than the play on the field.

I would certainly agree that if anyone is that angry and emotional about this game, it's a good idea to step away.

You said this much better than I was going to.

We have a limited number of Gator games that we can experience in our lives. I'm soon to be 56 and not sure how many more seasons will I get to watch? It's my school, love football and may not always agree with the course of the program but I cannot see giving up on it. If you can't enjoy it then I get it but we're a family here. That's what makes the bad days bearable and the good days even more enjoyable.

Law, all I can say is life is too short to bury your passion but is also too short to be upset about that passion too. So crap, don't know. Just for selfish reasons I wish you'd change your mind and stay in the family.

damn, that really bums me out. law is a great dude. ill definitely miss him. we exchanged a lot of offline messages as well and for someone who never brings it up, laws seen and done a grown man's worth of defense of this country in uniform and i respect and admire the hell out of him for it. hope he comes back, but i understand his sentiments. he really really loves this team and just cant continue to watch it languish. i sure hope mullen can get us truly headed toward greener pastures, but i too am still a bit skeptical. I was almost convinced after last year, but the way this recruiting class fell apart AFTER signing day, and the first game of the season (admittedly just 1 game in), things appear pretty butterish and its giving me anxiety. Mullen is more than capable as an HC. He needs to do 1 simple thing to win and win big - get rid of the dead weight on his staff. Loyalty to anyone other than high performers in the college football game will singlehandedly get you fired from the big boy teams and Mullen will be no exception. Can the dead weight, or suffer the same fate. It's as simple as that.

If this GAME has that much affect on your life then I suggest doing some sort of restructuring. We have very little control over who is hired, who is recruited, who decides to come here, what type of offense or defense gets played and who our QB is. Personally, I love gator football and I really want to win every single game we play and I want everything to fall in line perfectly but reality sinks in and it is what it is.

We may never compete for championships again and if we don't it will be totally horrible. If we do it will be wonderful. Im hoping for the latter of course but I am also keeping in mind that I control NOTHING that happens with gator football with the exception of not making a donation or buying a ticket. I will be pulling for my team thru the good and the bad and the happy and sad and I will come here and harass as many people as possible until Ox decides to ban me for good. So, donk, I am hoping you come back here so I don't have to hone in on another target. Here is to hoping Mullen figures it all out. Go Gators!

I used to get that way with philosophy and theology. I’ve been studying the 2 subjects for 25 years. Always needing to argue or debate can make you miserable. Step away and refocus. Wish Swonkey they best.

From the Donk - he asked me to post this:

I have had my pants around my ankles as much as possible, thanks for asking Baitn.

Guys, you know I hated the Mullinz hire, but I tried to choke it down. Even tried drinking the Koolaid last year especially after the last two games hoping he had changed. After all some had said that Creyer was the real conservative guy and he held Mullinz back. Then lack of talent at Cowbell held him back, too, adding to the excuse train the excuse train continued. I tried.

No, really, I tried. I actually started liking him more than I thought I could, and had some hopes for the last recruiting class. That obviously didn't work out at all.

Then he did it. After the scUM game, Mullinz told De La Torre that the reason he kept insanely running the ball and earning that 1 yard per carry average and putting us in 3&8 was because "he was trying to tire the defense". This is of course what he did all September and October last year too.

Trying to tire the defense?

TRYING TO TIRE THE DEFENSE?!

Wasting 3 1/2 quarters is trying to tire the fvkking defense? Going three and out isn't going to tire any defense.

So much Muschumpthink. That was it for me. He is who he is. He is going to run the ball 70-85% of the time regardless. It doesn't matter that he has talent at WR. they are here to block. And get 1 maybe 2 catches per game.

That "trying to tire the defense" comment was my moment like in 2012 when Dumpchump went nuclear on the press for criticizing his complete absence of offense. He claimed that ball control and time of possession is the way to win and Gators don't know anything about how to do it.

Honestly, I should have left the second that azzhat Mullinz was hired. (Chimp too)

Could an average coach who puts 60ish offenses on the field win. I don't think so. But maybe with great recruiting and defense.

Recruiting? We are Cowbell or just barely above Kintucky and that isn't changing anytime soon. Even if it changed tomorrow, Mullinz will be gone before we could see the effects. He isn't going to become a better recruiter overnight. He just doesn't have 'it". He has "dork" instead of "it". He just does.

Moreover he will continue to have the poor facilities and staff also harming his ability to recruit for years at least. The next two years are going to be disasters as we harvest what he has sewn. He won't survive.

Mullinz has the offensive genius of Mushdump (ok, 60th-80th instead of 100th, what is that? 30 more yards and 3 more points per game?) with the recruiting prowess of Butters.

I've had enough. But I've accepted it. Maybe next hire will turn this thing around but the deal is done for now. Our rebuilding decades is now rebuilding decades. I'm sure. My head has returned to control, I'm not thinking with my heart. Earliest date for a turnaround is probably is 2025 or so IF the next coach is a great hire and lands three top classes.

Besides, I'm just here to make Queenie happy and she deserves me leaving for a while.
I have enjoyed harassing you people, but I just don't have anything left for watching this turd circle the toilet. Obviously I got to the point I was checking my phone constantly to reply to shyt. No one wants that anymore. Especially me.

I have no health concerns beyond being addicted to arguing to you fkkkers. I told Ox that I told myself I'm quitting 1000 times and couldn't manage to do it because I HAD to argue with you guys one more day each time.

I just don't care to post anymore and the board is better off for it. Maybe next October as decisions are being made about Mullinz future, but not until then.

Im going to my garage most Saturdays or pursuing another hobby. UF doesn't care about football, why should we?

PS- I was reading the Chumpcocks board and they were blaming the QB too. :lmao2: It's always just a QB problem.

PPS- if you are interested in helping the hurricane victims, I'd suggest you take a look at these two.

I'm not a fan of how much Red Cross wastes on themselves and their marketing departments making so many of their own people 1 Percenters off your donations, including low level managers with little responsibility and a staff of half a dozen or a dozen people. It is insane.

I'll be honest. I didn't even watch the Miami game. I don't live and die with the weekly ups and downs of Gators football anymore. So I'm kind of where Donkey is but in a different way. Because I don't think we can write Mullen off at this point. In fact that idea is pretty nuts.

I can't say if Mullen will ever win championships here. But I do believe that he is a heck of a game day coach who will instill toughness in his teams. Properly applied and supported that should amplify his ability to recruit.

We won ugly. But we won. With a week's less practice than normal against a talented opponent with top notch team speed. With a -4 turnover margin.

Step back from the ledge and ride this sh!t out like a man. Or forever take your place in the b!tch wagon.

Being a Gator isn’t about them - players, coaches, administrators - living up to MY expectations. It’s about love of the team, the university, not me. It was great to be a Florida Gator in 1973 when my dad took me to my first game for my 12th birthday. It was great when I chose to attend UF in 1979.

I've always said Law was my favorite poster but I totally would hang out with him in real life. I PM'd him a few times but he put a restraining order against me.

Shirley, I jest ;) but I really think law is a stand up guy and I would still love to grab a drink with him.

Ps, if anybody knows where he is please send me his address and social security number. Lol

People take the game too serious.

I started to cool my jets really back in 2007. It's taken some time. Maybe it was age, wisdom, apathy? Who knows. Today, I don't care as long as we are not sloppy and not getting arrested, embarrassing us.

Plus, there's too much money it. It's a game I can't relate to anymore. It's too fast and big. And really are these student athletes? It's turning into circuses.

F that snowflake. “In all kinds of weather.” Dude is throwing a toddler sized fit because the school didn’t hire his guy (Larry Fedora - his words). And recruiting isn’t great. And we didn’t blow out a team with a good defense. And there’s not another Spurrier just waiting to be hired. If I remember correctly, he didn’t even like Meyer - lots of wins but wrong kid of offense.

Look, there’s more to life than Gator football but, if you keep even a smidgeon of perspective, it can really sweeten the experience. If he’s really taking a sabbatical and “waiting out Mullen”, I don’t want to see him around if the team gels and we make a run or have a good season. That would be the definition of a fairweather fan. Maybe go follow Miami or FSU - they have plenty of room for new bandwagon fans.
