I don't see how Mullen can survive this. Certainly a combination of Swonkster, FF, and IT would be able to turn this program around with their life experiences and coaching acumen.

Well, you left off LSU, who we play every year. As far as FSU & Tennessee, both of those teams are complete disasters so beating them in their current condition is no big accomplishment.

Miami isn’t a rival and they haven’t been for decades.

No, mainly because none of them have consistently been Top 25 programs. We’re supposed to beat, no make that steamroll, USC, Vandy and Kentucky...every single year.

LSU is consistently referred to as a rival. The cross divisional annual opponents are typically based on strong, historical rivalries...like Bama/TN, Auburn/UGA, etc.

Well 2 things. 1) none of those teams have been consistent top 25 teams in the past decade regardless of our performance against them and 2) now you know why, at least partly, we are on our 4th head coach in the past decade...poor performance against traditional SEC bottom feeders. Bottom line is none have been considered rivals because they usually suck and we SHOULD beat them easily.

No arguments here but doesn’t address the original statement about rivals.

Interestingly, we expect to beat those teams but we don’t really invest much more than they do. I’m with @Swamp Donkey , unless we find a really special coach, nothing gets substantially better until we fix UAA.

I’ve clearly explained why KY, USC & Vandy aren’t rivals and why LSU is a rival in the eyes of many. Are you seriously still trying to debate this?
