Its the ultimate failure of Foley. A hire like Stoops should’ve been made after Chump. I wasn’t a fan of the Chump hire but it made some sense at the time. But you just couldn’t miss after Chump and going after another cheap, high risk guy was as stupid as it gets. I hope UF boosters take note and demand change at UAA. Its well past time.

The problem is many of our boosters truly don't get it. There is an old guard, including Bulls, that are clueless. I've told the story many times on here, but I sat with a group of Bulls at the '09 uga game. In the midst of an undefeated season as defending Champs, they spent much of halftime lamenting that we'd let Zook go and praising how much better a guy he was than Meyer. I was so uncomfortable I had to excuse myself.

But there are many of those guys still out there that have not only sway with decisions, but the funds to make it happen. It's the main reason it was so hard divesting from WM. He went to Oak Hall, had some Gville roots and spoke like them. Whether or not he won a game was almost irrelevant. That's the mindset that held us back fro decades until Spurrier arrived. They simply don't didn't demand better, and sadly, still don't. As someone said earlier in this thread, in any event, the move on WT shows they're not content with the current state and lack of fan support was listed chief among the reasons the decision was made. I will give them some measure of credit there.

Can confirm. My Booster buddy had deep roots in Gainesville and did all the events. When it was clear it wasn't working out, he told me on numerous occasions that Chump was loved by many.

The brakes have definitely been pumped on the Bob rumors it seems. We know how these rumors seem to spread like wildfire as well as any fan base. I wonder if Fsu would spread these rumors just to make it look like there was interest in their job from a big time name like Bob? The last hire they made, I can't remember all the candidates on their list, but I don't remember it being that impressive. This time around it's getting a lot more interest, even after what they just went through? I hope like hell these rumors aren't true, and Fsu has to just get an average coach. Very doubtful they get someone even close to as bad as Willie.

According to that article, they have made contact with Stoops and he has interest. If that's true, a deal will get done.

It's too bad that whenever UF called him he told them to take a flying f*** at a rolling donut.

I just don't think they'd make an announcement of a new hire until after the regular season is over.

"Rumors we are close to an agreement with Bob Stoops are untrue," Coburn said. "We are on schedule to have someone in this position by end of the month... Chances of something happening this week are virtually zero."

Agreed it’s too bad, but not sure I blame him. If you were Stoops, would you pt yourself in a position to answer to Foley? If I’m him, no way.

I doubt whenever UF contacted him, they offered him anywhere near the 8 million that has been rumored.

Let's also keep in mind that when we pursued him he was always employed. At this point, he's been sitting on his ass for 3 years and is probably bored out of his mind.

True, but no one offers an office like UF. You can't get drop-ceilings and painted cinderblocks just anywhere.

I did see in one of those articles linked, a tweet from Bruce Feldman from this morning. Basically saying that he spoke to people very close to Bob and they doubted he would take the Fsu job. Who knows

Let’s see - according to my Jeremy Foley guide to coaching searches, it’s on to Mike Shanahan.

The hilarious part about this will be that they're positive they're getting Stoops, just like UT was positive it was getting Gruden, and they'll end up with Grantham the same way Tennessee ended up with Pruitt.

The meltdown will be fantastic.

Perhaps they'll all go ballistic making up crap and get them to pull the contract like the UT fans did. Nothing like letting fans make the decisions.
