The problem is many of our boosters truly don't get it. There is an old guard, including Bulls, that are clueless. I've told the story many times on here, but I sat with a group of Bulls at the '09 uga game. In the midst of an undefeated season as defending Champs, they spent much of halftime lamenting that we'd let Zook go and praising how much better a guy he was than Meyer. I was so uncomfortable I had to excuse myself.
But there are many of those guys still out there that have not only sway with decisions, but the funds to make it happen. It's the main reason it was so hard divesting from WM. He went to Oak Hall, had some Gville roots and spoke like them. Whether or not he won a game was almost irrelevant. That's the mindset that held us back fro decades until Spurrier arrived. They simply don't didn't demand better, and sadly, still don't. As someone said earlier in this thread, in any event, the move on WT shows they're not content with the current state and lack of fan support was listed chief among the reasons the decision was made. I will give them some measure of credit there.
