Gatewood is 100% not coming to UF according to his QB coach Denny Thompson it was a mutual decision and Thompson said that he respects the hell out of Mullen for being transparent and honest in their conversation and led Thompson to say he respects the hell out of Mullen even more because he wanted to stick by his guys and made that clear to Gatewood that he wants to stick by his guys and stands by guys that chose to come to THE University of Florida

Jones being solid to return would be what I would say...Trask and Jones with Richardson would be a good QB room

This. It’s the smart move. We aren’t in the portal sweepstakes at QB any more. We actually have a room that we can build around.

Wonder if this is an indicator that Franks is coming back...
I read it as " you had your chance but Emory chose to come here". Beings that they're in the same class. Mullen signed Jones and I figured he was referring to him as "his guy". That's just what I was picking up out of it.

Definitely a good room imo. But do we need a quality 4th?
SMH. You really think Gatewood is leaving Barn bc he is mad he can't start so he can come to UF and be a "quality 4th". Im not sure he is a quality anything btw.

Pigs get fat; hogs get slaughtered. I’m OK if the 4th is a frosh. Anything else is greedy.

And not long term at all. I don’t think people realize how much the portal and easing of transfer rules have devastated the age old concept of depth at key spots. I‘ll be honest, I have no idea who Mack Brown is. Nor do I know who uga or Ohio State or Clemson’s backup QBs are. All I know is Eason, Bryant and Tate Martell because none of them stayed where they originally signed.

If we can build a QB room of 3 actual players(not WOs and/or PWOs)we are doing fantastic.

I never said gatewood is our answer, just questioned if 3 in our QB room is enough. I'm pretty positive though gatewood can run the offense you believe Mullen wants.

Yeah I know. He is exactly what Mullinz wants, all wheels, DGAF about the arm.

Im glad he isn't coming.

I dont think hes the answer either, by the time he is eligible we should have Richardson and Del Rio here. But I do wonder if we can keep our QBs healthy, and what's the number we want in the QB room

Where do you come up with this crap? Nothing in his history says that he values legs over an arm. He values a good runner - for sure - but his best QBs (like Dak and Tebow) could sling it.

we started this year with 3 and came dangerously close to 1 during the Auburn game.

I get it. But gone are the days of Palmer, Berlin and Grossman, let alone Dean, Wuerffel and Kresser all at once. Those groups wouldn’t have made it through the spring today. It just isn’t in the cards any more. I don’t like it any more than you do. But as I said, I don’t even know the name of the Top 5-9 teams’ backup. There’s a reason for that.
