Norvell to FSU is as solid as Kelly to UF. Actually probably a lot less.

OTOH It looks like Kiffin to Ole Miss, which was (presumably) FSU's biggest competition for Norvell. It may not be a "done deal" but Norvell to FSU seems more likely than not to me.

I suppose it does add up to be Norvell.
The presser being set up when they were signing him, only to take it down because of a last minute request that he be able to coach Memphis today.

And the Kiffin to Ole Miss not heating up until after Norvell supposedly signed contract.

I don't think Norvell will be that great a coach for FSU, but with that said, the ACC isn't going to be much tougher than the one he coaches in now, with exception of Clemson if course.

Not quite the "splash" they were looking to make.

And isn't it something that they barely give the black guy a chance, just to hand the team over to some young white dude :shakehead: :stirpot:

When FSU signs someone else, Goon will tell us that Norvell was given everything he asked for, and just walked away unexpectedly.

Memphis was and still is the biggest competition. The word is that they put together a $4mil extension for him. Some have FSU only being able to afford $3.5mil, which makes sense and doesn't make sense, at the same time. Probably why they were asking for more money. Goon may have a good source (a week ago), but things change and can change quick with these things. Memphis desperately wants to keep him. The biggest issue seems to be an opportunity at the playoffs, which should be easy for them if they are willing to schedule some OOC P5 teams.

ESPN reporting Norvell is the leading candidate, an announcement as early as Sunday.

how do you announce a “leading candidate”? Is the deal done, or not?

That’s ESPN avoiding sticking its neck out too far. The two sides have likely been communicating for awhile.
