I know I asked this before and someone responded but is there really no chance of processing some guys for better ones? Even if it meant pushing out a low 4 star for a higher rated guy.

I'd like to see Janvier processed, but they just visited him at his house last week. But if that happens I'd rather see us add another OL. Fenley Graham is the other I wouldn't mind seeing processed.

I don't think that will happen, but what do I know? We got at least three spots, as many as 6 left open.

First you have to realize that our coaches don’t believe they have guys lower rated....they have guys they want

And we’re ok with keeping Odom because of legacy? Don’t know much about him but where does he fit if he’s a true take? In line blocker as a TE? Just feels like we have a chance to take some good guys but we committed to some less than stellar ones early and won’t drop them.

They aren't dropping Odom. And yes, I assume he's going to be used more as a true TE (and honestly, he's 255 or so now, he could end up being an OT before it's over). But he did have several catches for his HS team. He obviously won't be a Pitts type, but in the SEC you need to have blocking TE's (I think Zipperer is more of a total package).

Well, hopefully we get a TE coach who can teach how to block. Our TEs have not been good there this year and that seems like a good place for a guy like Odom to contribute. Would help the running game too.

Fair enough. Basically, the “long view” is more important than the short term. Makes sense but at some point we need to transition from accepting those early commitments that make it more difficult to take better guys late.

I'm not sure if there was confusion on what I posted - but I was saying that I agree w/ you from a few pages back, that MJ would be a good candidate as an ILB vs. edge guy. But I'm not sure how the staff views him. We discussed this a few weeks ago (several weeks ago), but he played most ILB for his HS team this year. I'd love to take him if he was being targeted as a ILB.

I'm hoping going into the 2021 class that the staff is more selective about taking too many questionable 'takes' early. I can see filling a class w/ a few late, but there's no reason to take some of these kids so early (at least next year the roster will be in better shape). UGA has 14 commits right now - they easily could have 20+, but their in a position to be selective - which is a nice place to be. I think after this year (2020's class) we'll be in a similar position.

So your thoughts are basically that Mullen has prioritized balancing the roster early and hopefully plans to start really upgrading talent next year? I hope that’s correct as it seems like the smartest way of doing business, even if it makes fans and recruitniks mad. Not sure I’d buy it 100% as it excuses some misses but its certainly plausible.

I know right? I even get you to show a smidge of personality every now and then. I should get an award. @stephenPE - got any extra cool ribbons laying around? Let’s be honest - you know you do.
I used to have hundreds for Field Day. But retired and left em all at school............I may have some old President Physical Fitness Awards,............even a few that Reagan signed.

Bullshyt. or they wouldn't have spent most of the year chasing 5 stars and high 4s.

I’m not saying everyone is but there are a lot they have rated higher than services. Take Knighton for example they basically showed no interest in him. Ethan White is another...there’s tons of examples. The point is we see a white or Javier and think we can process them for higher ranked kids when in reality the coaches love them and will not
