Haggins isn't really a captain, he's a team player.
I wouldn't doubt if he was never really considered for the permanent job, and/or he doesn't really want it long term.

The "SEAL" is David Goggins (google him if you don't know who he is). I read the book a year or so ago. It was pretty entertaining....and ridiculous. If you read the book, he makes several mentions of his wife (because the SEAL lived with them for a month so she was involved). He's self made also (he started the first shared jet ownership company, among many others). Pretty wealthy couple. They go back and forth between their homes, one is in Atlanta where the Spanx headquarters are (or were).
