Or we could go fancy with Bobcats, Topaz's and whatever a fancy Vega with extra fake chrome trim was called... Oh, through in the Caddy Cimarron!

1951 Mercury coup was my 1st car. It threw a rod in Melbourne while traveling from Miami to Jax. My dad had to come down & rescue me & tow the car back to Jax. He then helped me buy a '57 Chevy in 1960 which I loved. It was 1970 before I could afford to buy a new car...stuck with a chevy, then later in life with Olds 88 and now Toyota Camry.

I have only gotten 2 speeding tickets in my life (I usually drive within 5 miles of the speed limit), but have been hit 3 times....once in the parking lot of a grocery store when another driver backed into me, then I was stopped @ a red light & was rear-ended, then was hit broadside on the passenger side during a left-hand turn.

Jeebus.... if I were 120, I still wouldn't think an Oldsmobile 88 was a nice car.

But, seriously, mostly utes, trucks, even some vans. I like most Audis, probably wouldnt actually own one though. I like looking at most Porsches , but id never own one, even free. Too uncomfortable. Im just not a car guy, except for classics.

I know youre a Muatang guy. Id give your left nut for a 64.5 or 65, but not particularly interested in any of the modern ones, as advanced as they are.

That 88 is like an aircraft carrier. If you rearend somebody it takes about 15 minutes for your teeth to get to that steel dashboard.

When I was dating my wife to be in HS, my then soon to be MIL drove a 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (fully decked out model, was company car cuz FIL got 2 GM company cars). It was an absolute BEHEMOTH and you LiTerRaLLy felt lost inside of it...

EDIT: hers was much bigger than the one in the pic... didn't notice the pic was 2 door, hers was 4 door.

EDIT #2: I've told this story before, but when we lived in Gatorwood, during the run up to Desert Storm, one of the people in our building had a bumper sticker that said, "War is not an energy policy!".... on his crappy old, Olds 88.

I had an old POS like that for a while in HS. A Chrysler Cordoba.... with RICH CORINTHIAN LEATHER (vinyl). It had a 400ish engine and got maybe 4-5mpg on a good day.

One thing about those boats, most had bench seats and you could bang the hell out of her in the front seat. Probably in the trunk too if you wanted.

Maybe it was one of those gawdawful GM diesels!!!

My aunt had a GM 350 or maybe 305 diesel. It got 40 mpg for about 4000 miles before it blew up.

Or 3.8/ 4.3... Those were pretty good engines.

I had a '93 Olds Bravada with the 4.3 Vortec engine and it was awesome.

Ah yes, Ricardo Montalban.
From looking at that picture I suspect you could have launched F-14s off of that hood.
