Afternoon snack. Eaten raw when picked fresh from the garden. I think the purple ones are sweeter.
I can smell the pee now.

I must say, you cook some impressive steaks.
Thanks sofla. I keep it simple. S&P, Get the grill hot all the way around. I have a 3 burner so middle goes off and the upper and lower go to low. 4 minutes at one angle, 3 minutes after a quick rotation of 45 degrees and then flip for 4 minutes. Rest for 10.

The wife and I got up first thing this morning and picked blackberries before it got too hot. This is what they went toward...

The recipe was from my granddaddy’s oldest sister. Aunt Janey was an exceptional cook, known for her coconut cake. Her blackberry cobbler weren’t too bad either. The missus is pretty good putting this kind of dish together. It was right fitting with a scoop of Blue Bell vanilla on it.

Kale, romaine and arugula salad with fresh peas and carrots.

Spaghetti with a basic tomato sauce of San Marzanos, garlic, shallots and burrata on top. Chicken stock and a Parmesan rind at the end. Made family style in case NV stopped by. Word is he tied one on last night and needs the carbs.

You or the wife are clearly Italian. We don’t eat it much because the wife doesn’t do carbs much at all. I love some Italian food but it’s few and far between.

what is that white on top? Burrata? FWIW, my wife would love that salad. The more greens/veggies the better.
Is @Gator By Marriage also Italian? He seems to also have a lot of pasta.

Ironically, no. We just love pasta! Pre kids, Mrs G. and I would actually often make it from scratch as opposed to using the boxed stuff.
We tend to have a protein, a starch, a veggie, and a salad at every dinner. Pasta or egg noodles is probably the starch 3-4 times a week. Sometimes more.
FTR, though, last night was feta olive burgers with saffron rice (sorry no photos) and Saturday was grilled pork chops with a Caribbean style apricot sauce accompanied by black beans and rice.

It's my side. The wife is Spanish, but she just loves cooking, specifically pasta. I go Mon-Thur with just raw vegetables and a lot of protein. Only cheat on the weekends, and Sunday is usually the worst. I would eat pasta every day if I could. My kids do. But I like eating super healthy and then rewarding myself. And yes, it's burrata.

Salmon & shrimp sauteeed with chopped sweet onion, bell pepper& tarragon in EVOO then tossed with farro & topped with feta cheese, roasted broccoli, pear/Gorgonzola salad, diced pears. Fantastic & healthy!

Gin & tonic with a big splash of Florida’s Natural pink grapefruit juice. Perfect summer drink.

To go along with the carb over-load theme...

I texted a friend telling her that I waited until 6pm to try to figure out what to eat for dinner and all the meat is frozen except bacon. She suggested carbonara so I tried it for the first time. Used some whipping cream and bucatini noodles. Yum!

Whipping cream? Interesting. What was that a substitute for? Looks great btw.
(FTR - I make a killer carbonara that basically is just garlic, parm, olive oil, black pepper, 1/4 lb of bacon, two raw eggs, a little white wine and a lb of thin spaghetti - I can always count on having all of those ingredients on hand.)

Welcome to the thread party Theo! Looks great but I’d leave out the bell peppers.

No substitute, added the cream with the egg and cheese for a creamier version.
Your version sounds good too.
