I find it interesting that we had by far the worst defensive back play since I can remember and none of it falls on the db coaches shoulders around here. And yet our record setting passing offense was strictly because the QB coach and the O coordinator/play caller had nothing to do with it.
He bares some responsibility, but you have a decade of history on the DC and the DB coach... one falls in line with their history, one doesn't. So you either look at the data and say well it's just Todd's fault, or you get in front of a microphone blame the players and the position coach (which Mullen did). The nickname "3rd and grantham" doens't come from No Where.
As far as the offense analogy... against Mullen has been a head coach for now 14 years. This is the first offense that looked like this and in an interview said that it was Brian Johnson that made him change his strategy. So if we see a different offense than what he has shown before, and gives credit to the new OC. Who should we give credit too. By that same token do you give credit for LSU's 2019 offense to Orge or to their new OC Joe Brady?
