SOS was selected by Arnsbarger with a gun to his head and CUM was selected by Machen. UF AD's have never selected a great football coach that I am aware of. So, the AD is the first hire that needs to be made. Question ~ who should hire the AD?
Do you really want fuching Fuch to make the decision. He needs to go on vacation or be kidnapped.

Luke Fickell + a blank check for assistants, analysts, facilities, and recruiting would return us to elite status.

At this point, any (potentially elite) HBC should demand the blank check, as I believe Saban did in 2006. It's the only way to be a consistent playoff contender.

I suspect, to my dismay, that the stewards of Gator football will never open the checkbook. I fear we are consigned to be, at best, a second tier SEC program competing for ten win seasons and NY6 games. UF may not be a playoff contender for a long time.

Those of us who want elite football are like conservatives. We're obviously right, but the people who run the world are idiots.
Saban didn't need to demand a blank check. Trailerbama fans would have mortgaged their pickup trucks to give Saban what he needs. The trailers aren't worth much.

Why do you ask if I want Fuchs to hire the AD? Where did I imply or infer that I wanted Fuchs to appoint the AD? Please re-read my comment. "Question ~ who should hire the AD?"

Good Gawd.

Billy Napier is Mcelstain Jr with a penchant for more running and less playaction short passes. What the hell is wrong with you inbred retarded fuchs?

No wonder you asseipes loved the last three hires and want more of the same. Fickelll!!!! Napier.
Jesus Christ what fuchsing idiots.
I'd probably put Napier ahead of Cristobal. He'd probably put together a decent staff and recruit pretty good. He's his own oc qb/coach and that's the problem I have with him. He seems to be pretty average at that. Very run heavy from what I've seen. I'd definitely have rather have Chadwell if we're going that route.

How hard is it to write a job description.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit top 150 players.
  • Personal relationship with every HS coach in Florida preferred.
  • Psychotic fear of losing. At anything.
  • Borderline pathological expectation of perfection in yourself and all those around you.
  • Confirmed willingness to fire under performers - extra points if members of immediate family.
  • Ability to identify (preferably in the womb) star athletes and play them regardless of seniority or work ethic.
  • Essay question: The Defense exists to ___________. Only acceptable answer is "get me the ball".
  • Multiple choice question: Special Teams are
    • a) where you put freshman and walkons.
    • b) one third of the team that requires skilled players and exceptional coaching. (Correct answer)
  • True or False question: It is possible to score enough points
    • True
    • False (Correct answer)

Didn't really mean you wanted Fuch to hire a new HC as in supporting that. Just responded to Machen hiring CUM.

Sad but true. This is why I argue for another year of Sh!tter's Full but only if he fires fat Todd and hands the team over to AR-15. I lived through 80's Gator football. Superstar players (see Emmit Smith) are easier to find than superstar coaches. There ain't one out there right now that can fix what's broke.

Cristobal seems to be the guy that checks most of the boxes for me. He knows the process, he knows the state of Florida, and he would recruit at an elite level at UF. After this year he'll have recently put an elite OL, DL, and QB into the NFL. He knows offense and recruiting. He would just need a good DC. Back the brinks truck up and make him say no. Give him an opportunity to return to the best football school in Florida, and that would be something he'd really have to think about.

The other guy I really like is Mark Helfrich. I'm not sure in what capacity I would want him at UF (HC or OC, probably OC), but what he did on offense at Oregon would make him a coup for any football program. Helfrich is currently an analyst at Fox, so he is definitely attainable. Darren Thomas, Marcus Mariotta, and he recruited and coached Justin Herbert for a year. Helfrich would do amazing things with Richardson and Bowman. If he was the OC that came with Fickell, Stoops, or even Venables, then I would be ecstatic.

Bill Obrien has grown on me. Definitely not at the top of the list. I was not impressed early on this year but they've since opened it up. Bryce Youngs been slinging it around. I know they're by far the most talented in the country but he's working new starters at all the skill positions, hell, most of the offense for that matter. And sark even took some of the staff. He won alot of games with some shcit qb's in Houston. Did a decent job at Penn St considering that roster was pretty much gutted when he got there. I'm just not sure of what kind of recruiter he'd be or what kind of staff he'd put together.

We are picking at scraps at this point.
I'm just not sure about anyone out there.
We definitely need a change, but is there anyone out there that is a positive fit?
A lot of what looks good is based on the **** that we've already had; it's like choosing between McDonald's and Burger King.
I really liked that segment today on Luke fickle. But I'm not sure how he fits in here.
We desperately need a Alpha personality that demonstrates a winning attitude and can recruit.
A team takes on the personality of a coach. We need that competitive charisma.
