You can pay him 2 million a year but at the end of the day he's still todd Grantham. Can't believe we're paying him Brent venables type of money.
But how does consistency come into play? How did venables first year at clemson compare to granthams first year at UF? I know venables was pretty well compensated, not sure if it was comparable to grantham.

you can only turn down the NFL so many times until they stop calling. And you can only Stoops your AD so many times until he stops giving you a raise every time there's another open job.

I'm not as worried about him leaving. We're paying him too much. He obviously ain't gonna take a nfl DC job and he's getting paid so much it's gonna take a power5 HC job to pull him away. It's gonna take a pretty good one at that. He just doesn't really fit the mole that would get a HC job in a power conference for 2mil+ without any HC experience.

I know Venables turned it around big time. They had Kevin Steele and west Virginia hung 70 on em in a bowl game and he got canned the next day. If I remember correctly there was a pretty big turnaround in the first year. Big difference here is our defense wasn't a trainwreck before he got here.

Maybe he is waiting to see if VT fires that clown Fuente and gives him a look.

They went from 80 national to 50, and shaved off 5 points a game. We went from 70 to 20 and shaved off 7 points a game. Stats can be skewed, but we had a pretty big turnaround also.

Gotcha. I just saw that they both only became DCs this past year. Before that they were co-DC. And yeah, they might be studs, but I feel confident if you broke down their defenses as much as you have Grantham then you'd also find flaws. Theres gotta be a reason nfl teams are contacting Grantham and not tressel/lake. (Although I definitely hear lake mentioned).

As I said, I know you have issues with Grantham, but he balled out as a coach this year. Only real stinker was mizzou, and our O didnt show up that day either.

Now how does saying Grantham's over paid the same a saying Mullen sucks? Are you touched?

Nah. Just replace “Mullen” Sucks with “Grantham” Sucks. One year later. Deja Vu. All over again. Somebody’s got to suck. Who will be next after a great defensive 2019 season?
