I can't speak as eloquently as some of y'all, but I can tell a difference in how the football program is being run. I don't know if these differences will mean winning big in the long run, but it's definitely different. Florida highschool coaches are happy to have UF coaches on campus to check out their kids again. IMG kids are choosing UF now. We didn't load up on a bunch of low 3* projects just to fill roster spots. Our overall class rating has improved vastly (2 whole points!). Are we getting the elite top 50 types, no dammit, and it sucks, but things are improving. If you look along the Dline for instance you can see there's a very obvious plan in place to fix some of the issues we've been seeing. Dline depth has been so bad poor Gervon Dexter played like 2x the snaps as most SEC Dlinemen do. BN knew this had to be fixed and he's put great emphasis on fixing it. QB is another good talking point here. With AR not really turning into what many of us thought he might + his quick exit to the NFL, kiddy porn issues with the back-up, and EJ light (Miller) now as our only roster QB with any game experience at all (that only being 1 bowl game), BN went out and got two, yes TWO 5* QBs committed to us for the next couple of cycles. I know 2024 signing day is still a long way off, but holy cow how can anyone complain about how that class is looking so far? Ok, and on field wasn't special I'll admit. Coaching in the middle 8 minutes and time-out management was suspect at best so I'll agree it does appear BN could probably use some help with play calling to lighten his overall load. Could help, but will he do it? I dunno, and neither do any of you. Drowning my sorrows in as much alcohol as I can afford just isn't all that appealing to me so I chose to be patient and see what happens.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years being a Gator fan, it's if the HC doesn't get the job done within 3-4 years, he'll be tossed out on his @ss and we'll go out and get another one and see if he can get the job done. Personally I much prefer to hope BN figures the on-field stuff out and keeps improving the recruiting until we can compete with the upper echelon again, rather than hoping he fails, or expecting him to fail and spending the next 2-3 years wallowing in misery.

Go Gators!

I think some of y’all take this stuff personally and too seriously lol
Yeah, cover's reputation for lacking a sense of humor and being irrationally fragile has been established since the dawn of message boards.

I must have missed the part where I tagged Cover in my post. My mistake, won’t happen again!

Wasn’t talking about you, I used the words “some of y’all,” aka those who leave the board over being called a “turdsniffer” (still love ya NV)
NV, like so many others these days, seems to have gotten way too sensitive about the smallest of things. I really think our country’s propensity to let damn near anything offend us has infected a large portion of the population. I guess it’s inevitable when that’s 90% of what you read in MSM.

I knew what you meant, Jay. And I’ll go a little further and say that “turd sniffer” can, indeed, be hurtful. I prefer the term “shti disturber.” It is certainly more dignified without sacrificing accuracy.

An old coaching buddy told a story of his college days that kinda sums up what you’re saying about being sensitive to include having inflated self-opinions, which is something very easy for all of us to fall into when interacting anonymously…

The old Coach was a senior OL at Ark St and they were playing a key game toward the end of the season, either against a big rival or for their conference championship. It was a tough game, low scoring with Ark St trailing late in the 4th. They were driving for the winning score when the starting QB got KO’d carrying out his fake on a run play. In comes the second stringer, a talented, but awkward freshman who felt he had to take command in this crucial spot.

”Alright guys, we can win this game if we all stick together!” was the young QB’s rallying cry when he entered the huddle. The response he got from the Center, a grizzly old Senior was this…”Shut the fk up, don’t fumble the snap, and execute the handoff. We’ll do the rest!”

Basically, the lesson he imparted with the story is that we all have certain talents and things to offer in situations, but we don’t always have the presence we need to positively interact and affect the desired outcome. I’ve been there, still am there sometimes. Best thing I can do is control the emotion of my responses, think twice, post once. I‘m not 100% but I’m working on it. That and learning to not take myself too seriously while maintaining confidence in areas of experience.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I learn from this place each day, good and bad, and would hate for that to become excessively restricted or gone altogether. But we all control that aspect, whether we realize it or not.

Just shut up and stick to post game analysis, old man!

@NavetG8r Nailed it. Very well said.

I feel that we have better days ahead. But I for one was one that was in the Burn it to the ground and rebuild it group. We'll never really know all the in's and out's but I feel that at a certain point he put the 2022 season is to see just how bad it all was. Just an opinion. But as you put it you can clearly see that there is a plan, they're working it, and it's going to be done his way. I hope he is successful as the revolving door cannot help the situation.

I understand the frustration, but if something causes me nothing but angst, I walk away, at least for a while. Sports are supposed to be fun. If they aren't fun, why keep doing it?

I don't enjoy losing but I'm enjoying this rebuild. We've sucked for years, I'm not freaking out over sucking for a while more while the entire thing gets upended. At least we're trying something new this time. It's nice to see high school players at least looking at UF again.

A very level headed post. Maybe the Ox psychiatry is working. I haven't been a Sunbelt Billy fan, but I would love winning again. If this year starts us in that path then I'll be hopeful again. In the meantime I'll temper my disappointment.

I do agree about some more moderation. I know I'm guilty as well of taking rabbit trails away from a thread's intent, but seems to be getting worse. GC is my go to place for Gator news. It is frustrating to wade thru 2 pages of mom jokes, et al, to find out some recruiting news.

Anyway, onward and upward. You da man Ox!!

God Damnit!!! I didn't even take 2 full days off and look what you people did. I am not certain but I'm starting to wonder if I'm not like the glue that keeps this place together....

The other thing is next time you bunch of sniveling crybabies are gonna start fighting at least wait until I'm logged in.

Dude, he’s the OP. If you think those who agree with him are “taking it too personal and everything too seriously,” then you’re kinda pointing the finger at the source of the conversation, even if it was intentional.
