I thought I heard them say this was the first time in 8 years that no Florida high school kid went in the first round of the draft.

As a Bears fan I am at the point where it is hard to really care. The management of this team is beyond bad. They signed a career backup to a 40 million dollar contract and then traded 4 picks for an average QB who would be third round in any average class.

Looking at how that slotting system controls the pay for rookies now you take a pretty big hit for just missing the 1st round and being the top pick of the 2nd round (losing about 1.2 million in signing bonus, roughly 4.2 million down to 3 million, and about 1.6 million in total contract value).

Also thinking of what could happen to Brantley possibly - just going from mid 2nd round to mid 3rd round costs a player close to 1.2 million in signing bonus (1.9 million signing bonus down to 750K or so) and about 1.9 million in total contract value.

OR they were in a bidding war with another team who wanted to move to #2 and take Trubisky. Either way, it's a reach.

Then the other team are a bunch of dumbasses too.
They could have stayed at 3 and still gotten a QB at least as good as him and kept all they gave up.
Horrible, horrible trade.

Obviously, the Bears thought he was head and shoulders better than the other QB's. I guess time will tell.
