And it's the easiest position to play on the field. True freshman can do it, no problem.

Again.....sooooo stupid. That's why DB's in the NFL are paid a premium, because they're so easy to find and replace. Stop acting like a jackass every once in a while...

This kid is trending our way. I'd rather have Sanders, but this kid's a solid back.

10088

Top 30 in FL, 11th ranked back nationally. Yep, I like the way the mojo is flowing here. Especially since the mojo is flowing in the completely opposite direction where sanders is concerned.

If/when he gets over 200lbs he'll be solid back in this offense. He's apparently "electrifying".

Ole Miss
just got it's 8th OL commit. WTF?? 27th commit for their class: 4-star Arkansas native Darius Thomas. On 247 he's the No. 19 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 3 overall prospect from Arkansas. Earlier today they landed 4-star WR Jonothan Mingo, from Brandon, MS. He's the #12 overall prospect from Mississippi and the No. 265 overall prospect in the country for the 2019 recruiting cycle. On Monday they landed 3-star OLB Eric Jeffries, the #102 outside linebacker in the class of 2019 and the No. 41 overall recruit from the state of Mississippi. As well as flip 4-star WR Dannis Jackson from Miss State. Jackson is the No. 19 wide receiver in the class of 2019 and the No. 7 overall player from the state of Mississippi. - In case you lost count: that's 4 commit's since yesterday, three of which are 4-star's.

Tenn: lands the #1 JUCO DT, 2019 3-star JUCO DT Savion Williams, who currently plays for Lackawanna Community College.

Tennessee hires a new Director of Recruiting, Bethany Gunn.

Don't you wish we had a coach who could recruit as well as the mouth breathing idiot at Ole Miss.... who is on probation.

The guys doing a hell of a job. There's a lot of filler in the class (six really low ranked 3-stars), but it has six 4-stars (he doubled the number from 3 to 6 in the last two days). He has a hell of an offense, and he got a very good QB in Matt Corral. I'd keep an eye on them in the next 3 years.

Hopefully we flip Black...which will knock their 4-stars down to five!!

This kid was at FNL, does not have an offer - he played DE last year and is moving to OL (so kind of confusing why a UF or Tenn would consider him). He's one of two JUCO's (that we know of) being pursued by the staff:

They seem pretty determined to get five OL in the class. Guess hevesy believes he can coach him up. Savage will get him even bigger. But can he play....?

The remaining 4-stars we have the best shot at landing:

Elam, Zipperer, Kimbrough, Higgins, Wright, and Summerall.

Zip and Higgins seem like the most likely to not be in the class of this bunch.

We could also flip Black.

If we got all of these kids, plus one or two surprise 4-star commits, this class would be salvaged. It would give us 11 to 13 blue-chip players - which will include a stud QB. We need more DL's and OL's, but this would put us inside the top 20. Probably not the top 15, but 12+ blue-chip players is a good class. 2020 needs to be special.

I'd rather they move him back to DL than let him ride the bench for 2 years. He was a HS DE and a JUCO DE. Maybe he's athletic? I heard Derrick Hunter tossed him around at FNL.

Rainey and Demps were pretty electrifying in this offense...don't need every back to be an every down back...Pierce looks like he can be the big power back of the future.

Agree....but he's 185 now. I don't think Demps or Rainey ever weighed more than 190. He'll get to 200+, which will help w/ durability and he'll be able to lower a shoulder when he needs to.

High School football practice began throughout Florida on Monday. Here's a story on Buchholz HS, coached by UF commit Trent Whittemore's dad:

Buchholz Football Season Preview

Buchholz Football Season Preview - ESPN 98.1 FM - 850 AM WRUF

t’s that time of the year again, the smell of football season is in the air. High schools all around Florida, including around Alachua County, are officially underway with practices. Monday was the first day for teams to get to work and capitalizing on that opportunity is Buchholz coach Mark Whittemore.
Whittemore.JPG

Looking Ahead
The team that’s fresh off a 5-6 season and who made it to the state playoffs for the third consecutive year, including in 2015 and 2016 winning the 7 A District 3 championship, is ready for yet another tough schedule. The team had a losing record last season, but made it to the playoffs because of their strength of schedule. Whittemore thinks this season will be just as challenging.

“Fleming Island is terrific. Oakleaf is rebuilding, but has tons of athletes. Creekside is going to be a tough opponent.”

Whittemore also thinks Bartram Trail is reloaded and thinks their quarterback is D-1 talented. The district is extremely difficult, but because of that, more teams make it in to the playoff. Last year 3 teams made it in, and Whittemore believes there is “no doubt” that will happen again this year.

In order to prepare for the season, Buchholz attends a camp every summer at Valdosta State. It’s there that the team gets to learn from college coaches, partake in drills, and scrimmage other teams. Whittemore thinks this camp that they attend annually helps build team chemistry and allows the team to stay sharp. The 6-10 opposing teams that are in the camp provide Whittemore’s team the ability to get numerous reps in scrimmages.

One thing that Whittemore really likes about the camp is that Valdosta State films the scrimmages and gives them to the coaches to watch with their team. He says they will take 2 1/2 days and review the scrimmages with the team. Whittemore feels that this camp “gives us a chance to segue from the spring to the start of the season without losing sharpness.”

It’s camps like these that allow Buchholz’ new additions and inexperienced players to step up. Whitemore says the biggest loss the team experienced was on the line on both sides of the ball. The team lost much senior leadership, but at the same time, there’s a silver lining. Whitemore’s excited to get two years to work with his three junior offensive lineman that are all rising in the 2020 class. The team also has two “solid” senior guards on the o-line.

The one area that Buchholz has depth at is quarterback. Camden Orth is the incumbent starter who has fully recovered from last year’s near season ending injury. He’s the captain of the offense and is an important face to have behind center. Backing him is Whittemore’s son Trent Whittemore. “He’s there if needed,” says Whittemore.

There is no such thing as a must have CBs. CBs make almost no impact on the game. It is why they are the least recruited and the only type of "bluechip" players sad recruiters can land.

Counter point:

This was a pretty big impact. Mo jumped on board with the good guys.

I was there. Totally lost my **** when he made this INT. Lost it again on the runback.

This play changed the game and put us squarely on our way to ATL.

One of the greatest football plays I've ever seen.

Lito is the man, and one of my all time favorite Gator stars.

I actually started to so unless it is Lito or Vh3, the kind of 5 star CB that opponents just wont throw against. Those are few and far between.

The rest are pretty much interchangeable. And unimportant vs SEC teams not named Mizzu or ATM.

If CBs made a difference we wouldnt be 4-8 half the time.
