Maybe, but dat dude has a wind up at least as long as FF. He is going to be a total project also. At least he isn't a 3/4 thrower like FF was.
I'd rather have both. We know that Beck can throw it and not just at camps.Maybe, but dat dude has a wind up at least as long as FF. He is going to be a total project also. At least he isn't a 3/4 thrower like FF was.
I haven't seen much video of Beck though. I guess at some point you say if Bammer wanted him too, he has to be pretty good. I'm just not sure I see him ever competing with the Joneses in this offense.
I'd rather keep AR. At least we know he can run.

Well, Driskell was an elite 11 finalist and #1 recruit way back when and we know how bad he was handled. But I do believe that you need a great passing QB to win championships. Throwing at camps and throwing during live action is not the same. Being able to read a defense pre and post snap, going through your progressions, timing and leading your receiver open, being able to look off a safety and then accurately delivering a pass is what being a QB is all about. Being able to run occasionally is a bonus as is stepping up in the pocket and being able to scramble. We don't need a Tim Tebow, we have plenty of good RBs and are recruiting some really good ones. In fact I don't believe that Mullen has ever had the kind of talent in the WR, TE and RB that he will have the next few years. I don't want a Nick Fitzerald running this team. I want a Deshawn Watson.I tend to agree on AR. I hate to get another John Brantley situation (and that's no offense to Brantley - he shouldn't have ever signed w/ UF under Meyer's offense) - square peg/round hole type of QB. Beck is an athlete though, having been offered as both a baseball and football player. So, maybe he can run? But we know AR can run, plus he's already 220lbs+....and he actually looked pretty good throwing the ball at the camp; he wouldn't have gotten the Elite 11 invite if his passing was terrible - and remember, Jalon Jones didn't get an Elite 11 invite.
FF went to Elite 11, plus these are regional elite 11s, so it's doesn't literally mean the top 11 quarterbacks in the nation.maybe he can run? This is just a total misunderstanding of the offense.. Being able to run occasionally is a bonus as is stepping upon the pocket and being able to scramble. Yet we did OK with FF running this offense. The two games we lost (Kentucky, Missouri) we lost because of the defense. FF was a lost cause and Mullen rehabilitated him enough to win. Now imagine an FF that can really throw. I am totally OK with the amount of runs that FF got. Don't want more. I want a stout but athletic OL that pushes people around and can protect the QB. No matter what offense you run you need a good if not great OL.This is just a total misunderstanding of the offense.
If you don't have a running quarterback than the offense looks like Chris Leak prior to changing to the Latsko offense (traditional I/power I w FB) or John Brantley under Daz. Leak and Brantley had nfl-caliber running backs behind them, but you can't run an option and leave a guy unblocked with no threat of the quarterback running if the defensive end doesn't stay honest. And why wouldn't the DE crash on the running back? They knew Leak and Brantley weren't going to keep the ball and it didn't really matter if they did.
I dont like Nick Fitzgerald, at all, but this offense absolutely needs a quarterback who can run. The quarterback will always be the leading rusher or the second leading rusher in Mullinz' offense.
