My son just got a new car and I advised him to get the dealer add on, then he waxed every part including the door wells. Probably won't do it again until the spring. He also got a protector for the front of the hood for dings from stones.

I love washing and detailing my car. I use Meguiar's Gold class soap. Pretty cheap at 11 bucks for 60 ounces. Plus it is very thick so a little bit goes a long way. I use a grout sponge from Lowes. It is the best thing I have ever used to wash a car. Holds the soap really well and traps dirt high in the sponge fibers so it isn't scraping against the paint. They also rinse out really easy. They are about 2 bucks a piece.

I wash the car every Sunday morning. Wax once a month, and every 6 months I clay bar and put a sealant on the paint.
You do all that to an '88 Civic?

Quick tip: Don't listen to Mr. Miagi. Don't wash or wax your car with circular motions. That's how you put swirls in the paint. Straight lines only. Less chance of marring the paint.

I was expecting Ferrari, maybe Bentley. That's a bit of a letdown.

I did the same routine when I owned a beat 2000 Camaro. I just like detailing cars. Plus most people usually tell me I need to aim higher, but the GTI has been one of my dream cars for a long time. I love them.

Use Rejex. Nothing beats it as a polymer wax.

I have tried rejex and have nothing bad to say about it, but I prefer Klasse because it lasts longer in my experience.

Did you put on 2 coats ? That's what I found was the key. And letting it cure as long as possible. I use it on my boat (saltwater) and it lasts an entire year.

One coat, but I have only ever done one coat of the Klasse as well so it is a fair comparison. To properly do a sealant you have to put on a coat and let it cure for 12 hours. Then you can do a second coat or apply a wax. Unfortunately I don't have that kind of time usually so a second coat is out of the question.

Alright, I've been trying to read up on and edumicate myself on this sealant stuff. According to the Meguiar's blog, and I even called their support line and talked to some cool dude... they are saying their Ultimate Liquid Wax is considered a sealant. And a 100% synthetic polymer wax. He totally agreed that you can use their professional sealant with their carnauba on top, and many do that especially with red and black cars. But this product is suppose to give you the same protection, with much greater ease. He also recommended using their quick wax spray immediate after a wash/dry. Ever use any of those post-wash sprays?

Considering my wife's new vehicle is white, and my truck is silver, I think I am going to switch and simply use their Ultimate.

I'm paying a guy to do it all for me next week.

He estimated at least ten hours of labor.

That's classified. Heavily classified. :suspect:

Do you have a guess?
