Forgot that Bush won the Heisman in 05.

Really, it only strengths the argument that the list is a total joke.

If you want to compile a "best single season for a 2000s QB"...an undefeated season with a national championship and impressive stat line should be at or near the top.

But if we're going to argue best 2000s college QBs, then career numbers like titles, individual accolades, and finally, stats come into play; and on every front, Tebow beats 2 of the 3 in front of him.

Only Mayfield has an argument for being better on the stat sheet (not in titles or accolades)...and even that is only on career passing numbers. Broken down, in things like average yards per attempt and college QB passer rating, the two are fairly equal.

Lot of guys on that list did not have very good pro careers. Your point about Cam is a good one. Makes one wonder if they even had a metric or just went with "feelings."

Some of the stuff from my posts was off memory; some was literally less than 5 minutes worth of googling.

One would expect a sports journalist--whose literal job is to keep track of sports--would be able to do better.

Scam Newton had Nick Fairley. For the impact that Fairley had, look at the 2010 Iron Bowl. Fairley was suspended for the first half in which Bama was leading big. 2nd half, Fairley almost single handedly shut them down.

Sustained excellence is much, much harder to achieve than a one-hit wonder.

Defenses adjust as you give them more tape to identify strengths & weaknesses--and the best players adjust along with it.

Brady went from being a game manager type to a true downfield passing QB to a master of the short and midrange game.

Tebow's numbers declined as he went from trying to do it all (2007) to being more of a balanced threat that looked for multiple ways to beat you in 08 and 09. And let's face it: in 06 and 07, he was a "one read and go" kinda guy...then started adding in a few wrinkles and additional reads in later seasons.
