Ox is overly sensitive about avatars. I had a hot chick who wore a regular blouse and Ox said there was too much cleavage. So I put up a Confederate Flag to prove a point, and he was fine with it. Then I put up a White chick eating a banana, just a head shot, and it was taken down for being too sexual. So I found a muslim eating a banana and apparently that's just fine. So no real meaning. Just an exercise, showing that Ox likes Confederate Flags and mockery of muslims, but hates PG-13 pics of pretty white girls.

See you're from the class of '80. I can't imagine how crazy of a time that was, with the Iran and what Sadat was accomplishing before his assassination.

You are right, it was. My friend is from Iran and he and his family had fled the country when the Shah was overthrown. I had to take a summer class because it wasn't offered during the other semesters and I had to take pot luck for a room mate and it turned out to be him. We became close friends and have remained so ever since. I remember when the American Embassy was taken over there as a demonstration in the Plaza of Americas where they were burning an effigy. Several had signs the read S.H.I.T. I asked what that meant and was told it was an acronym for "Students for the Harassment of Iranian Troublemakers." I went home back to the dorm and told Assad to stay home that night. It was a wild time alright. He was an engineering student and now works for GE.

Stoops retired months ago and it was discussed at length. Not sure why this was posted now.

And alky has always pushed the limit on avatar skanks. His banana picture consisted of two women (not one) licking a banana in an obvious sexual reference. He’s obsessed with the female form to the point that he can’t just visit a porn site and get his jollies, he has to visit them on my board.

I guess I didn’t realize his current avatar represented a “mockery” of Muslims. Are bananas forbidden in the Koran?

I have a friend whose family moved here around the time Sadat was assassinated. I think it was a year or two prior. Both of his parents were very western and he is slightly more religious, but certainly not a radical. They certainly seemed to really distance themselves from what the middle east has become. They wanted to 100% assimilate. Just a different attitude in their generation.
