Hi swamp. That is what we would have said too if he had turned us down.
Garbage. Absolutely, positively, the most ridiculous reason in the world. See my explanation in the chat window. I know I am new around here and don't post much but IF...and that is a big IF...this is true, the lawyer who can't write a contract to get around this "pre-existing" clause should be disbarred. This is a simple matter of semantics that is easily covered with a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) in the contract that commits the parties to the agreed upon terms upon signature BUT postpones and or precludes any compensation or benefit that would nullify a preexisting contractual item from a previous employer. Done all the time. Seriously...
No, we might very well have an agreement BUT not announcing it due to some pre-existing contractual obligations is LAZY and leaves recruits, fans, and the program in limbo longer than needed when a simple MOU in the contract limiting the activities, responsibilities, compensations, and benefits until an "all clear" date has passed is just not the complicated. So your presumingnthat we dont have an agreement, bc you believe Dooley, I guess, despite the fact that he usually is correct only by accident?
Apparently UCLA is not pursuing him do to show cause? I thought I read that somewhere.
Well, there is this. Someone's gonna need it.There is no fly and there is no ointment.
if he was allowed to sign something that "open ended", he should find a new agent because any agent who would allow their client to move forward with a contract that did not have some "out" is not doing their job. Look, I get it....I am just some nobody (and to be clear, I am not a lawyer...I just work on these types of contracts regularly as part of a legal team), and I don't have sources, and I don't know anyone close to this situation but I do know what can and can't be done in matter related to Employment Law and this reason is does not pass the litmus test of legal precedent. And the Eagles know that. So their contract says he can't sign a contract with an MOU.
Not a chance its signed and not leaked in 48 hours.
UCLA doesn't want him because he uses the word Tranny on a regular basis. They were actually saying today that UCLA alumni do not want a coach that could potentially embarrass the university. They mentioned his show cause and the recent China events as reason that they might not even be able to pursue him as alumni are threatening to pull money.
Don’t know how much is true, just something I saw today.
Freakin Voice of Reason.I’m going to go on the assumption that he is signed and will be announced next Monday. Not going to stress about it. Either he’s our coach or he’s not, we will survive either way. I think he is our guy though. Patience.

Agreed, a week is not that big a deal....if that week was in September before the Kentucky game. But for many reasons I have already elaborated upon, this is a week I feel the program does not have time to lose. Imagine the energy in the stadium, with the recruits, and the buzz in the media prior to early signing period if we announced this week. Just a thought. Not announcing it for a week is a pretty simple way of writing a contract to get around it.
It's not like they have to wait till next season to announce it. A week is not really a big deal.
It doesnt leave anyone in limbo except a few silly.message board people. Everyone else knows what is going on. The players and recruits know.not announcing it due to some pre-existing contractual obligations is LAZY and leaves recruits, fans, and the program in limbo longer
@finebaum: .@buddyshow says Florida is close to hiring Chip Kelly as its new Head Coach...
"Florida has moved the ball down the field to the 2 yard line. Can they punch it in the end zone?"

We know this how?Scotty has talked to the key recruits personally and told them to hang with him .... he has a deal
