He pulled himself out of the game, didn’t he?Yeah, when it came to playing with our heat seeking missiles Gator D back then, Bo puckered up... didn't take long before that dude knew this was going to be some serious head hunter level hits ... on more than one occasion it was Bo curtsy left, exit.
I seem to remember both games he didn't finish them, but like 78 said, the "famous" one was my thigh hurts and didn't play anymore, admittedly the Gator helmets and pads were smacking him pretty good. There would be no uncontested gains today, Bo.He pulled himself out of the game, didn’t he?
He did. That's when the woe is Bo BS began. Never mind all the hype leading up to the game. We were supposed to feel sorry for the guy.He pulled himself out of the game, didn’t he?
God I loved the Porpoise. Kamikaze Halftime. Sigh...At the time, it was only the third time that UF beat AU and UGA back to back weeks. AU used to be an every year opponent and they were scheduled back to back with UGA. Tough two weeks. Does anyone still have those BIG orange cups from the mid-80's? I still have a few of those....HEY COKE MAN! Go Bananas! Over the top, over the top! Oh, the 80's were a fun time to party at Florida Field, despite the swealtering heat of the astro turf? Or anyone ever play ultimate frisbee on Florida Field at 2am after the Porpoise closed and played Rolly Polley Fish Heads? No gates to get on the field.....played by moon light....hard to believe I still remember this **** after all the brain cells killed at the Porpoise (and CJs).
hellz yeahGod I loved the Porpoise. Kamikaze Halftime. Sigh...
LaPradd was right. I still have 6 of the bottles.......the 84 championship t-shirt and a Galens Gators liscence plate. I had a Pell Power shirt till the divorce. drove up and down Univ Ave on the hood of my Granada for hours until a cop stopped me. Those mfther fckers from the schools that denied us the title were the biggest fckn hypocrites on earth. Aub Tenn UGA and Bama were all doing WORSE and for much longer. The open records laws crushed us. Pell hated the sportswriter from the Sun Hairston cause Jack had to write about it. I figured the St Pete Times had a nole or cane on staff but not for sure. Im sure 78 has the inside on that. The penalties we got were unprecedented and unfair........... SOS repaired quite a bit of that sh#t..........in spades..............Said Gainesville booster Charles LaPradd, who contributed to the gift fund: ``Charley Pell did more for the University of Florida than any other person--coach, scientist, dean or whatever--who has ever been at the University of Florida. It organized the alumni, and he created a spirit within the university that no one else has ever fostered.``
I was at the 44-0 drubbing. I had painted the rear window of my F-150 with Peace on Georgia. Hushull ran all over us that day.I will say this. Without Galen Hall taking over in '84, we probably would not have beaten Georgia. Vince Dooley had Charlie Pell's number. Three of the four games the Gators played tight, and Georgia won those games. The outlier was 1982, when Georgia waxed Florida 44-0.
