Yes and no. If the jags sign Polite off of the rams practice squad, he is guaranteed 3 weeks salary. Basically, no one is going to sign him unless they plan on promoting him to the 53 man roster. That in itself is sort of a protection.

Talent isn't the issue, dude was rated as a 1st rounder on talent. Once he started meeting with teams at the combine his stock plummeted. When the first post college season draft projects were out, he was rated in the top 10-20 picks. After the combine low second round. And it only got worse.

According to some before the draft talent was an issue as he wasn't fast enough at his size to be good in the NFL but you also had some thinking he could be a late first rounder. I think if he was a fit for what the NFL needs he would be on a roster regardless of any attitude issues. A tweener who is just a little too slow for the NFL.

He isn't big enough to be an NFL DL, and he sucks at run stopping anyway, and he is waaaay too slow and rigid to be an NFL linebacker and can't cover at all.

He basically had to get lucky and find a team that will waste a roster slot on a 3rd down only blitz specialist, even if managed not to be an @zzhole.
