We put a fullback in and ran iso once or twice. Simple stuff like that would work, just like it did in late 06.The fact is without a QB run threat the zone blocking schemes we have are completely useless

Well, HOF'ers at RB and QB certainly helps, but I see your point. One of the most dominant run games I have ever seen. They could not be stopped.Denver used a zone blocking scheme with Terrell Davis and a Full Back. They seemed to do pretty well with it.
They also had a great OL that could handle the blocking and a fullback to pick up a LB or safety that was left in the hole...we literally have a finesse running scheme unless it’s the QB and it’s maddening
The problem isnt zone blocking, the problem is option running scheme and leaving a DE unblocked,. period.
Every now and then we run something else, but it is still 80% of the runing plays and most of the screens.
Just complete square peg round hole.
Yeah.... no they dont. MOST of the posters here dont recognize an option play or even know DOrky runs them.almost every run play. They only recognize Nebraska style triple option or speed option. He gets it

People keep calling it a "delay" or whatever. There is no real option to our option but the reason Trash is looking at that unblocked DE or LB is because Dan really thinks someday the guy will respect Trash's run ability.
somehow wasting plates is " keeping them up honest" when they have zero trouble defending our run with even just three defensive linemen.
Almost every team on the planet uses zone blocking. Zone blocking isnt at all our problem.
There is a reason this OL suddenly looks competent at run blocking as soon as EJ walks on the field.
I don't disagree we need to stop running trask, it's in effective, but a zone scheme can work w
This is the point, zone blocking isn't the issue. We could run a pro-set with a full back and have a great running attack. We keep trying to run plus-one running plays, threating the qb. And as NFL scouts will also point out, Trask isn't athletic enough for those schemes. They should have made the switch in the offseason, similar to 06 on the off week, put in either a full back or a split back set.
I'm not sure Mullen knows what a fullback is. I think fullbacks went out with powdered wigs. This is the point, zone blocking isn't the issue. We could run a pro-set with a full back and have a great running attack.

Humorous bc instead of running an offense from the 70s, he runs an offense from the 50s.I'm not sure Mullen knows what a fullback is. I think fullbacks went out with powdered wigs.
there's no point in talking about this. he didn't change the run offense all year. he certainly not going to do it in a bowl game for which he only has four practices.
the good news is this season will be over soon.
