Decommits coming?

We will be fine. Give Coach Dan a chance. He has been on the job less than a week. If I was in his shoes, I would not be held hostage by 17-year-old kids who want to determine who will or will not be on the coaching staff. And there will always be defections in times like these. As most of us said during the coach search, we want people who want to be Gators. If they don't want to be here.... buh bye!

How do you know he didn’t tell him to move on ?
You're right. Maybe mullen took the time to visit him just, to tell our only commit at a position of need to move on to his face. Yep...

We have 3 DBs committed And plenty on the roster and he’s a position of need ?

I'm not usually a WDWHA guy, but his "Oh I'm gone!" comment about the possibility of Shannon not being retained tells me a lot about him. Not interested in a kid who thinks he makes all the rules, and isn't even willing to give UF a chance to hire a new DC to replace the old.

I'll also add this. When Richt was fired at uga, he was very clear with Eason and his family that he should stick with his uga commitment--even after he was hired at um. That's class. For all the "class guy" talk I've heard regarding Shannnon and how much he values UF, you'd think he could do a little of the same reasoning with these kids, but I guess not.

Maybe Richt just realized how much Eason sucked after he had been fired.

We HAD one CB committed and started two true freshman, bc they easily passed the guys we had. I'm being completely serious here: do you think safeties and CBs are interchangeable in a man-heavy scheme? Do you have any faith in one CB on our current roster other than the starting two?

They aren’t interchangeable but some players - especially Gardner - can play either. The injuries to Harris & Washington pulled him back and forced more playing time for young guys, especially Wilson & Henderson. (I think those 2 are going to be great.)

And while we have a lot of DBs, you are absolutely right. We need more elite CBs and unless it’s a Gardner or Dawson-type player safeties aren’t an answer. CBs can slide back to safety much more often than the reverse.

I'm starting to think you don't care for Mullen.

Agree 100% that Chauncey could definitely play either and I wouldn't be shocked to see him opposite Henderson in spring ball. Anyone that wants to play a lot of press man will have questions about marco's frame and physicality and might feel he's better suited at nickel and that would still get our best 5 on the field. Stiner is athletic and I could see Edwards moving to safety also (many thought he was a safety coming out of hs) so our numbers behind two young guys (S Davis & Stewart) that showed promise would still be ok. Add at least two nice freshman (I question if the staff will keep one of the safeties based off scheme) and the safety group looks solid. The CB depth chart is the opposite.

I liked him when he was at mississippi state and would have to play UF every once in a while
He's going to be here at least 3 years. You may want to settle in and accept it. Let's forget about winning championships for a while and just focus on what it's going to take to rebuild the program from the ground up.

I'll just get some new hobbies

Good luck to this kid. Hope he has a good career at Jacksonville State after whatever trouble he gets in due to his self-importance, I'm-bullet-proof, you-need-me-more-than-I-need-you attitude.
Id be pretty happy with a bunch less south florida in our future.

Not gonna lose any sleep over a CB.

He’s here 5 years no matter what. I’m convinced the UAA wants some stability and that’s why we went to Mullen.

You're aware that they only played twice while he was an MSU and he was 1-1 against the Gators.
The year that we lost to every ranked team we played? Yea, not overly impressive to beat that team. Still absolutely no reason to think he'd ever beat a solid UF team.

We haven’t had a solid team since 2009.

Exactly. Which is why I'm not too impressed with a team beating us. I still want to go against coaches that can never beat teams with talent advanatages. That way all we need is a decent coach and mullen at msu would be a gimme. We could have had an automatic win next year if we hadn't hired butters. Dang it!

I should have known Sam Pittman was going to let me down. The only reason he still has his job is because of Napier gifting him that win in the Swamp two season ago. I'd bet Pittman's wife still sends the Napiers a Christmas gift-basket every year.

Blues are good if you cut the lateral line out and put the filets on ice as soon as they're caught.

John was not known for his vocals, but he was a master lyricist and storyteller.
