Hey guys,

Just thought I would mention that in case you didn't catch it today, Florida beat Florida Atlantic 1-0 in 8 innings to advance to the Super Regionals, where they will host Kentucky for a chance to go to the WCWS.

Their pitching is solid - no runs allowed in 3 games. But their offense struggled - no run rule games, and it took them extra innings to win against FAU's ace. Should we be worried?

Discus.

Another win! They aren't counting style points, just who has the most runs.

Go Gators!

UsucK won the ND region, so we get the all-SEC matchup in Gainesville next weekend, Saturday at 1 on ESPNU, Sunday at noon on ESPN, and game 3 following Sunday at 3 if needed.

For reference, we swept a three game set from them back in April, 1-0, 6-3, and 2-0.

We're the #1 seed and just won our regional 3-0 without allowing a run. Yeah...I'm worried to death. :chickenlittle:

Does playing UK for a 4th, 5th (and possibly 6th) time help us or hurt us? I know we swept them in the regular season, but they've seen our pitchers. That usually means more offense. Hopefully our bats can wake up against their ace.

Now that I'm looking at UK's season stats, I'm not as worried.

UK - 32-24 regular season. Went 5-19 in the SEC. Shows you how tough the SEC is if they can win a regional and be that bad in the SEC.
Their #1, Kelsey Nunley, is 14-14 with a 2.39 ERA. They have 4 players averaging .300 or better.

Compare that to Florida:

UF - 53-6 regular season. Went 18-5 in the SEC.
Our #1, Lauren Haeger, is 26-1 with a 1.34 ERA. We have 6 players averaging .320 or betting, including Kelsey Stewart's ridiculous .451 and Justine McLean's almost as impressive .394.

On paper, this should be a walk in the park. But that's why you play the game. Go Gators!! Wish I could make it out to the games.

During the tournament it all comes down to pitching. Teams with dominant pitching usually win this thing. You don't see any 10-9 games during the tournament. Hopefully Haeger, Ocasio, and Gourley keep up the good work.

I laugh every time I see your Avatar. You're correct about pitching. I am a bit concerned as our pitcher's ERAs aren't the greatest, but they'll take out Kentucky.

I didn't catch the game - I assume we threw Haegar? Do we throw her again or give Ocasio a whirl and save Haegar for the WCWS??

Haeger. I assume she'll go again tomorrow, as she's had all week to rest.

My guess would be Ocassio...Gourley...then Haeger if needed. FWIW...Haeger now has 68 pitching wins and 68 home runs...the only player in NCAA softball history in the 60-60 club and she has a shot at starting the 70-70 club. These girls are fun to watch!
