Those early quick fouls hampered us getting close to a stabilized attack.
K.Johnson is developing. Leading scorer - 15 ... FG 4/12 = 33.3% ... FT = 6/6 leader in rebounds = 9.
Stokes in just 9 minutes scored a healthy 8 pts ... 3/5 = 60%. He looked competent. More, he gave us inside game.
The team shot 33.3% Stokes shot 60% :D
Nembhard 4/5 FGs = 80%.
We were much diminished by Hayes restricted minutes. (like to see if Hayes & Stokes could compliment each other
Every time Stokes handled the ball, flashes of what a real basketball team looks like appeared. Stupid White should have gone to Stokes 15 minutes in every game and taught Stokes, Hayes, and Bassett and Stone should have been training as inside scorers. When Allen & Locke are off, our inside high % shooters could take over. Inside threats can draw in the defense then kick out to a squared-up 3-pt calm & deadly stars. I can't see our coach being a good coach if he could not, did not drill this team to have inside scoring players. Only an inveterate "guard" would try the impossibility of training a basketball team to play without inside contributors. Trained to collapse.
PS>> I'm not bragging on Stokes as a great BBall athlete. The truth is more likely that he is not. But he is a "big-man" pawn that can operate inside. Typically these inside guys hit 60% of their shots and they draw the opposing defense in away from the outside guys so they can better shoot. That is the real machinery called a basketball team.
