Lol, remember how highly recruited he was?

He had serious tunnel vision. Especially in the red zone. Made for a good SI cover though:
You forgot Brantley.1. Treon Harris
2. Jeff Driskell
Yea, I am bored too....
Curious what the board rates as the single greatest game from one of our quarterbacks. I think there could be some serious competition there in spite of Tebow's dual heroics.
Tebow Stats in Orange Wuerffel Stats in BlueTebow gets my #1 vote because how he motivated the whole team.
Another crappy offseason poll brought to you by Mr. Bored.
My top 5.
1) Danny Wuerffel
2) Tim Tebow
3) Rex Grossman
4) Steve Spurrier
5) Chris Leak
Noticeably absent: Kerwin Bell, John Reaves
Agreed, but it's worth noting that Rexy got completely robbed of winning the Heisman his sophomore year.
That is what Ive always thought...........He was the perfect (like Danny and Shane) qb for SOS...............my other wish wasLeak , coached by Spurrier, would have been something to see.
Its hard to do bottom 5. Are we talking backups too? Or guys who just played a game or two?
Im going to go by who was least likely to get us a first down and only list starters. Obviously the Trash and Provanchas of the world are worse than the guys in front of them who actually got on the field.
Extra credit to the QBs that in addition to being ineffective are also likely to give the game away with fumbles or ints.
Bottom 5
1. Jordan Reed- too dumb to remember the plays or the snap, despite playing the position for a year and there being so few plays in the playbook. Needed true freshman Trey to call the plays, has to be the worst. Remember the staff was whispering that he'd be the guy to make us forget Cam Newton.
2. Fat Dog- some of you wont like this but he was terrible, could barely throw a screen pass and was slower than a lineman. I know, all he did was hand off but if it's just his arm or legs, we don't get the first down ever.
3. Driskel- strong contender for #1 bc he did it for so long, those other guys were spot players. No other three year starter has sucked so thoroughly or so consistently given the game away, but I have to admit he is more likely to get a first down than the first two if he scrambled forward instead of backward.
4. Morninghweg- like Fat Dog just not an SEC talent in any way. Losing to GSU, nuff said.
5. Douglas- the Driskel of his day, turnover machine, but he didnt get three years as a starter. He could easily be #2, but he at least had legs.
Honorable mention Trey (maybe the worst passing QB to ever take a snap at UF), Sabelhaus (right behind Trey but couldn't run either), Murphy (right behind Trey as worst passing QB) and 2nd year Treon (he was as fvkked up mentally as Driskel by then). I know that some won't like putting a walkon like Fat Dog on the list or a virtual walkon like Mweg on the list, but I'm just rating them as to least likely to move the ball.

When you add in Tebows 57 rushing touchdowns, he accounted for 145 TDs
Leak , coached by Spurrier, would have been something to see.
Three things that come to mind:
1) Tebow was even better than I remember him, esp when you consider he never had a decent QB coach.
2) How does a guy do that well against college football's best defenses week in and week out and then fall flat on his face in the NFL?
3) Did Tebow really fall flat on his face in the NFL or did his notoriety push him out?
Remember that stats back then didn't include post season, and Danny shined in those SECG and bowl games except Nebraska of course. I'm not going to look it up but I'd expect another 3 tds per game and another 300 yards for 8 games. The stats are a bit of apples to oranges because of that. (See that Tebow gets credit for 14 games a season and Wuerrfel only 12 or 11.)Three things that come to mind:

Oh yeah, and SOS sat him one game in 1995 so reporters would stop asking about whether Wuerffel was going to be the Heisman.
Neither QB would have been able to run the others offense.
It's also sad that Tebow's soph year was his best and that poor coaching made him decline year by year. I forgot that he threw for 3000 yards that year. It's also sad that he left in 2009 with no championships that year due primarily to coaching mistakes and decisions by other players. He deserved to go out a champion.
Great times by two great QBs. We will never again see a guy with 4 SECs and 1 NC or a guy with 2 and 2 in orange and blue.
I don't know that would change it. Remember Wuerrfel traded time with Terry Dean and didn't win the job outright until 1995. Murray started all four years.Don't know why they don't go back and add all the bowl game stats to the players career numbers, they could do that easily you would think. Then Danny could reclaim his spot atop the SEC career passing numbers that Aaron " never won a championship " Murray now holds.
