Not saying they can get in, but the aroma will still attract them. I get it; you live in Florida where you have flying cockroaches who will get in no matter what and you've come to accept sharing space with them. In Georgia, we only have the grounded kind and I prefer them outside. To each his own.

No matter to me. But a butter crock is an upside down dish that sits in a bowl of water. It is, by definition, 100% airtight.

    1. What time should kid go to bed? Is it different for Elem vs Middle vs HS?
Very, very dependent on when the kid needs to wake up. Our elementary took in 7:15 and was 30 minutes away.... so those years were damn early (bedtime 7:30). Now, middle school takes in at 9:10 and it is 5 minutes away... so it has adjusted by a couple of hours.

For us, even to do this today, a very strict routine makes the household run the smoothest. Including when any electronic needs to be put away.

As a young adult, I was amazed to discover that these had an entirely separate purpose, and weren't actually designed specifically to beat children. Up to that point, I felt that the only real difference between a guy like Kalashnikov and this Sherwin-Williams lunatic was that the latter was Anglo Saxon.

          1. Should kids get an allowance?
If they do their chores/work... I'm not giving out free money

          2. Does TP go up and over the roll or under
I don't care, but the mrs does... so over the top

          3. Should butter stay on the counter for days?
Goes in the fridge... We don't get that rich people butter like Byron who has his House servant retrieve it for him

          4. Is it ok to spank children with a belt or switch?
Dad had the belt, it would sit on his chair until he got home from work. The Mrs and I don't go that route.

          5. Should dogs be allowed on the couch or bed?
yes, Dogs are better and usually smarter than most people.

            1. I give my dogs an allowance
            2. TP is for poor people. I have a Guatemalan midget lick my ass hole clean.
            3. I leave my children on the counter for days
            4. Only wives are for spanking you pervs.
            5. Only hookers are allowed on the bed. Wives sleep at the foot of the bed on the floor. Children sleep in the shed.

Allowance is ok if they go above and beyond. Also included in this allowance decision is their general attitude. I had my first job at 12 wet sanding used refrigerators by hand so this old man could paint and recondition them for resale. He paid me $.25 per hour.

WGF which way the paper rolls. Two bidets with warm water and warm air drying fan here.

We may leave the butter dish out a couple hours before meals, other wise it goes back in the refrigerator.

I got the schit knocked out of me when I pissed my dad off, Mom would hit you with whatever she could grab, usually her hand repeatedly on some bare part of your body while screaming at you. I raised two sons and a daughter and can't remember having to resort to a real spanking. Usually a couple of swats on the ass with the hand if an issue (backtalk) needed reinforcement. Restriction and loss of their white privilege usually sufficed.

Dogs don't get on the bed. The two we have each have a dog mattress to sleep on and they have a love seat and an overstuffed chair they are allowed in that we keep covered. Bear parks his ass in the chair which sits by the window in the family room overlooking the front of the house waiting on Mike the Mailman who he hates. Dogs certainly can trash a house quickly. What I cannot stand to see is visiting someone's house and seeing their litter box trained feline walking all over the kitchen counter.

Y'all do know don't you that the TP question/argument is all wrong? I mean, either way the roll of TP is placed on the holder the TP rolls off the top. The real question should have been, off the front or the back of the roll as it hangs?

                  1. We didn’t have an allowance plan. If the kids had a need that we approved of, we’d give them a frugal donation. Grandparents had little paying jobs and then there was birthday and Christmas money for them to spend.
                  2. We’re “overs” at our house. The kids and others know that Dad don’t put up with that “under” jive.
                  3. My grandma used to keep a salve of butter on the table and we never thought anything about it. It was great on her cornbread. Nowadays we keep it in the fridge. We usually only butter hot foods, so there’s no spreading issues.
                  4. We used corporal punishment. I had “the belt” and the kids knew where it hung. The rule was 3 licks max for disobedience, disrespect, and/or doing anything that could potentially harm or kill them or someone else. Never spank in anger. Explain concisely why they are being punished. Be consistent. The spanking graph for both of our kids declined dramatically as they got older and by the time they were teenagers, spanking was mostly a thing of the past. I didn’t believe in using my hand after they were school age. However, the son decided when he was 18 and had just graduated from HS that he could talk loud to his mom. When I verbally corrected him, he decided to challenge me. We were driving to Sunday School and I turned the car around and drove back to the house. He didn’t think I was serious, but I told him that if he thought that was the way a man behaved I needed to let him know that wasn’t acceptable. So we squared off. Mom was crying, Jr. was telling me he’d put my old ass in the hospital. He got his shot at the championship. I still have the trophy. Not proud of that moment, but it was necessary. He hasn’t raised his voice since.
                  5. I never thought I’d have a dog in the bed, but our Brittany, Gunner, is there with us every night. Each to his own where pets are concerned.

                  :eek3:

I thought you were in Cali, not Tennessee?

No point in having a plunger in Tennessee. Plungers are only needed if you have indoor plumbing.
