He was pretty funny. I remember my parents playing some of his tapes in the 70s.

He also tells a great story about the time they played Clemson. Talks about missing a tackle and says "there's nothing worse than laying on your belly on the ground and the guy you were supposed to have tackled is running away from you and his number is getting smaller and smaller as he goes.".

Yes, Clower was a fixture on the stereo in my house growing up.

Haven't heard that name since the last time I proofed a Harrrrrrston column a gazillion years ago. Jack was a big fan.

I watched Jerry Clower speak to the team after practice one day in the stadium (mid-80’s before it became The Swamp.) He was doing Sonny’s commercials back then & Sonny Tillman had brought him over.

I’m not sure his HeeHaw humor was quite connecting but it was fun watching that all go down.
