Shaq and Kobe were one hell of a duo. They were two of the all-time best at their positions. The first title run, yeah, it was Shaq doing the carrying. The next two years they complimented each other perfectly. MJ had a few Hall of Famers playing with him too. Kobe's 4th and 5th ring supporting crew were pretty cruddy outside of Gasol and flashes from the artist formerly known as Ron Artest. I don't have an NBA team because for the most part there is nothing enjoyable about the regular season. I just don't see how people can't appreciate how great he was at basketball and his competitiveness/determination. The guy tore his achilles, tried to roll it back down to how it is supposed to sit, taped it in place, and went back on the floor to hit two free throws. I know MJ had the flu one game, but our football team did against Ole Miss and we did pretty well
MJ was a hell of a basketball player without question. I think I have said it on here before but a big part of the greatness and hype around MJ was his timing. Broadcasting, his endorsement deals, SpaceJam, his support and so-forth just made him larger than life. Same thing was happening with Tiger until his disaster. Now just about everyone on tour is approaching the game like Tiger did. Had Spieth not choked he would have had a jump on both Jack and Tiger in majors. Someone is always going to come along that is better. If you were able to have every NBA player ever lined up at their prime and pick a team, sorry, but my first pick is not going to MJ. You really can't do that though, and that's why these comparisons are always silly to me. People say the players wouldn't survive against the guys from the 80s and 90s, they're a bunch of pvssies. It's the most ridiculous logic for any argument out there. They have stricter rules now on defense, sorry. If they didn't get calls for being brushed don you truly think they would play the game any different than the tough guys before them?
There are four players right now (well now three) that are active NBA legends and have been incredible to watch. I hate it for you guys that can't just appreciate them. I can't stand Lebron, but that guy is incredibly talented. Guys like him, Kobe, Duncan, and Curry are few and far between. Kobe took a ton of shots last night, who cares? A 37 year old crippled man scored 60 in a win in his last game at home. It's just cool.
