The question how many games comes up all the time. I think the answer is 0. If they have any play time at all the redshirt doesn't apply. The quarter schedule playtime redshirt applies to medical redshirts.Concrete Helmet said:I said it a couple of weeks ago and I'll say it again...if I'm CWM I am not redshirting ANY of my QB's. This is his last chance year, he needs to have every weapon available to keep his job and turn this thing around. There is no margin for error here. We lost our 2 best QB's last year and I'll guarantee you that it cost us a couple of games even if we had someone close to JD's or Murphy's ability. It also cost us a bowl game and the couple of weeks practice that come with even a crappy bowl game. There are no more chances or excuses and if history teaches us anything it should be that it can repeat itself.
Now if in 2015 one of them stubs his toe walking to class then yes by all means pull the redshirt.
If it was one practice then you would have a point. It's been all week that Harris has been great. We will see how it plays out though.Himey;29580 said:It's interesting that we've been hearing that all fall practice Grier seems to be the clear #2 in terms of performance and that it wasn't close. Then Treon Harris has ONE good practice and people start showing up saying "Welp, it looks like Treon is definitely the guy." It would be nice to see this thing play out on its own without it turning into another Driskel/Brissett polarizing issue again. I would love either guy who is performing the best by the end of the camp. Just tired of losing.

Correct, GatorJ. Play one play and you burn the redshirt. You can, however, get a medical redshirt if you have a documented injury and have played in no more than 4 of the team's first 6 games of the season. You play a single snap in Game 7 or later, no redshirt, not even a medical.Concrete Helmet said:I said it a couple of weeks ago and I'll say it again...if I'm CWM I am not redshirting ANY of my QB's. Thanks J and Thomas. Soooo let's say they play up to the 5th game and then get a bad case of migraine headaches or tendonitis "who's" doctor gives them a medical ??Concrete Helmet said:I said it a couple of weeks ago and I'll say it again...if I'm CWM I am not redshirting ANY of my QB's. I think the NCAA grants Medical Redshirts. So, if passes muster they would grant it.Concrete Helmet said:I said it a couple of weeks ago and I'll say it again...if I'm CWM I am not redshirting ANY of my QB's. Law98gator;29806 said:There is something to that, both being guys who run better than they pass and not requiring the OL and others to learn another set of plays. The playbook for Grier and Morningwood is more pass based I'd assume. That beings said, Treon weighs like 178 lbs. It won't take many hits from SEC DL to take him out. If we are going to have the QBs run the ball a lot, I won't be surprised to see the 3rd stringer. Actually I suspect we'll see three this year regardless.GatorJ;n29105 said:I think Harris is a better fit for backing Driskel up.
