What do they expect?
Seriously, what kind of delusional, unrealistic expectations do they have in Missouri?
They are a middle-of-the-road East team. Their goal can't be Atlanta every year, and an SEC crown and trip to the college football playoffs every 3 or 4 years. Of course, they can pretend it is, but it's not. Their real goal is to be consistently bowl eligible and maybe get to Atlanta once or twice a decade.
They were spoiled by a fluke when they joined the SEC and all the East was down. That's not reality. That's once every half century.
Stay in your lane, Mizzou. You're right there with South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky. You ain't Vandy, but you ain't Florida or Georgia either.
Barry Odom was a perfect Coach for them. Good enough to maximize their real potential and he'd be there for the next 20 years. Nobody is going to hire him away, you don't have to overpay, no embarrassing coaching searches, just consistency. Every few years you're at the bottom of the East, and every few years you compete with the top of the East. For the most part, you're run-of-the-mill bowl eligible. Know your role.
Honestly, I'd trade Mizzou to the Big 10 (where they really want to be) for Maryland. We already have one Columbia and two tigers. Fcuk Mizzou.
