It is just a matter of time.

New Yorkers who went to south Florida were very anti NY too, but year by year they figured "there oughta be a law, like back in NY".
Nah, it’s super liberal here but they have their own version of it. More outdoor focused. California has a bunch of crazies and it’s super materialistic.

Yeah, no doubt re materialism. California plastic people, liberal or conservative.

And yet, just wait and see what happens to Colorado. The path only leads to one destination.

Unless Subaru partners with Mercedes or Patagonia starts developing hiking shorts with Gucci, don’t see it happening. Too crunchy here. Denver might fall victim to it. This area’s more likely to become Portland.

Im not talking about materialism.

I'm talking about taxes, spending, size of govt, intrusiveness etc.

Colorado is already like that at the municipality level. They charge taxes for sugary drinks and plastic bags. Real estate costs are skyrocketing in cities. But it’s not the California influence - just general liberalism. It’s a desirable place to live with lots to do - a magnet for young liberals. As those young liberals age, they start doing what you’re talking about. Believe it or not, according to locals, the Cali invasion is recent. Liberalism here is not.

Boulder, at least as I recall, was a typical liberal college town, though wealthier than most college towns. The mountain hippies were proud of their Saab 9-3s and revolutionary heritage.

Denver is more of a melting pot.

Swap Saabs for Subarus and you’ve nailed it. More to do than most college towns though.
