28 PLUS THOSE that declare for the draft early or transfer or can't continue due to medical or academic reasons.

I will clarify in subsequent posts due to having a nice long explanatory post lost to the ether on page reloads.

Up to 12 EEs count back to last year. Any over 12, if any, will be counted in the 2016 class.

Keep in mind the 85 limit and there may still be a SEC limit of 25 per signing class which is why the EE count back is important.

I read somewhere that we could sign as many as 32. I totally have no idea how that number was reached. But for whatever reason it wasn't a good idea.

Coaches now days have to be magicians in order to figure out way to make 30 plus equal the 25 NCAA cap limit. Sort of like how the NFL can
squeeze all of their players under the "salary cap".

Spivey said we could have 12 EEs, but only 7 can count back

I'm not sure if that's the NCAA limit. But the NCAA limit is higher than the SEC limit.

KT and VH3 are as good as gone to me, but they don't have to announce until Jan. 15. Probably a couple of more will leave early on advice of some silly agent and 3 or 4 more will transfer or be medically unable to continue. So a total of 4 to 8 on top of the 28 mentioned in the OP or 32 to 36 total.

That's not how you determine the count backs. Last years class could have had 25 but didn't. I forget the number now but I think it was 20 minus a couple of early EEs (who counted back to 2014). (McGriff signed but never able to accept the scholly.) I remember Kalif Jackson and Imatarbaby but I don't remember if there were more. If Spivey says the number is seven then either there was one more EE or I was off on the total number of schollies last class.

Any EEs could take those 7 (or whatever the number is) "count back" schollies from last class. Add that to the 25 we can sign for this class and that's how the number becomes 32.

The 85 limit and the 25 per class are independent. People leaving early doesn't change how many you can take unless you are butting up against the 85 total ceiling.

Hell, we better have some jump to the NFL early, we've almost reached our max then and there are a few big fishes that are looking at us that we need.

There will be Ralph Andradeses and Austin Hardins that lose their scholly in order to make the 85 work. Don't worry about the 85. We have plenty on the roster that can be flushed.

When was the last time we were anywhere near the 85 limit?

2008 I think. We were into the 60s in 2010-2011.

That combined with the "4 years guaranteed" policy nearly destroyed our program.
