I have never understood running a route on 4th down that is behind the sticks.

It is the epitome of the routes of the offensive playbook's pass plays. If you notice the only decent plays in our passing game is when protection breaks down, QB escapes the pocket and WR's can ad lib with more time. If and when we ever get sound pass protection, we almost never have a WR come free off the initial route. After a while you can no longer blame it on lack of talent, etc.
