It's because of the story behind it.
Here's the story...
The song was 1st released by the rapper. Never heard of him.
It didn't do well.
Then, it was redone with a "bonafide" country royalty in Billy Ray Cyrus and re-released and has made everybody bat shytt crazy for the song.
I'm meh about it and think it's more about going over the top to show inclusion for something that was construed as racist and so by getting behind this really shows you're NOT racist. But none of it is at all racist so it's really about perception of racism.
Oh, and BRC is an embarrassment to country music and as a father, imo, but because his crazy daughter that is loved by millennials once licked a piece of heavy equipment used for destruction, while naked, it is somehow deemed cool/good yadda yadda yadda.
