I gotta admit, I like the show, but my bigger memory is of me and my brother building models in the basement listening to the three Monkey records we had.

Peter was the witty one. I looked up a recent pic and was reminded that the clocks never stop ticking. Whatever happened to the last 50?

Heard on radio today they interviewed and rejected Stephen Stills for the Monkees and Stills recommended Peter Tork.
I was a Monkees fan but I was about 12 or 13. My favorite song was She.

I heard the same story a few years ago... and Neil Diamond wrote some of their songs before he began singing on his own.

I know they didn’t play their own instruments on the recordings, but all of them were musically talented. All could sing and Michael Nesmith and Tork were musicians prior to joining the group.

Nesmith actually had a good musical career after the group broke up.
