Looks like they rushed the whole renovation process, so now they are taking a step back to ensure the project's viability. I knew it sounded too good to be true . . .

By "good idea," that would mean someone believes that it is unnecessary to renovate the O'Dome. There are people out there who feel a major renovation which costs millions of dollars (no matter who pays) is an unjustified expense. I'm not one of those people.

I agree, but where? Micanopy? I haven't been to Gainesville in a while, so I am not sure where there would be a viable amount of land. We don't want to end up like Miami and commute 20 miles to a home game.

Better to admit that the schedule is not going to be met now rather than make a mess later. I know many managers who would never admit this sort of change and insist on meeting the schedule no matter how unlikely to be successful. Seems like a web site should be a great example to everyone what happens when reality does not meet your desires.
