I felt it was time to remind the posters that there are tools available for people to help themselves keep their GatorChatter experience a positive one. We all know each poster is unique (with the exception of a few alias accounts). They all have their own unique personalities. Some we love, some we can't stand. It's important to me, and I'm sure most of the other posters and certainly the mods, that everyone's experience here is enjoyable.
That leads me to my point of this thread. Personalities will clash. Heads will butt. Tempers will become heated. It's a Gator fan message board and fan is indeed short for Fanatic. I strongly encourage each and every one of you to look up the definition of Fanatic. I believe you may get a better understanding of exactly the kind of person or persons you're dealing with here.
One huge tool I like to use is the ability to go to a person's profile page and look at their posting history. It can give you great insight into how a particular poster thinks, or at least the style in which they typically post. If someone says something in a thread that you believe is over the line, try looking at that poster's posting history before jumping to conclusions. Was it a personal attack against you? Or is it simply that person's "style"?
If you find yourself incapable of accepting a particular poster's style, or "persona" they portray here, there is another tool that allows you to block that poster so you no longer have to read their posts. This is a very powerful tool to help make your experience here much more pleasant. It is by far less stressful to simply ignore, rather than engage in futile discourse. Yes we have a few on GatorChatter who are quite set in their ways and will take exception to anyone who dares to disagree with them. You'll figure out who they are and I certainly encourage you to use the ignore function if you find yourself unable to click that reply button every time you see one of their posts. It really does work wonders to maintain a peaceful soul.
For the record, this post is not aimed at any one particular poster. It's simply a reminder that we're all here for the same reason. Let's try to get along, and if you find yourself getting particularly peeved at one poster, take a step back, take a deep breath, and remember we're all fans here.
